I think it doesn’t feel as gimmicky, which is an improvement. I liked the visual aesthetics better. But it’s still “hit five switches and face boss” which still seems like a divine beast to me. I did enjoy this more than botw’s attempt though.

I’ve been doing the depths questline but if there’s another questline to pick up in the lookout, I’ll check it out.

Just dropped into my first depth on my way to the Rito area. Had to jump on a call before I could explore much, but it is super creepy. I'm assuming something is going to get me while I'm down there.

I’ve been having fun down there.

Found multiple chasms while unlocking the overworld map and I’ve probably got something like 1/3 of the depths map revealed just by fumbling around looking for waypoints.

It’s a solid way to get materials to expand your battery capacity. Nearly got three full cells at this point.

Sex kitten Purah should give you a quest to hit up the four major regions of the surface world.

I got so used to Revali's Gale, three full stamina wheels, and by the end of it all the motorcycle in BOTW.

I forgot how rough travelling can be without these luxuries. Also, I am reminded how fragile Link is in early game. I'm getting my arse whooped in almost every large encounter.

I'm trying to find how to farm rupees and get better weapons. I'm exploring the depths now because I found actually non-decayed weapons there.

This feels a lot more challenging than BOTW. Just finished the Wind Temple and I've died more times in this game already than I probably did for the entirety of BOTW...and most of those BOTW deaths were fighting Lynels. A lot of the puzzles have been pretty tough to figure out too. Not quite as bad once I figured out that activating either Ultrahand or Ascend ability and seeing what lights up would help solve most puzzles I was stuck on.

Much like how I used to keep Magnesis up when hunting for Koroks under rocks in BOTW.

Same. After meeting with the old lady in the Forgotten Temple, I started walking down the canyon thinking there'd be somewhere to get out when needed. When there wasn't I thought I'd climb up the black rocks. Nope. Not even close to being ready to do that.

All the roots you light up in the underground level directly correspond to a shrine on the surface.

Spending all my time in the depths on a few play sessions has absolutely devastated my food supply. Where’s the fastest place to stock up? Lol

Ride around the main roads on the surface and you'll keep running into the guy trying to hold the stands up. Help him and he gives you food and other things every time. I feel like I see him every 5 minutes.

Go to the shelter area down the ladder and talk to everyone there.

ETA: It could be something else triggers the quest, but it popped for me right after I finished the Wind Temple.

Caves are always good for food items.

Got any amiibos? They don't have to be Zelda-themed. Every single one will give you food items every single day. Zelda-themed ones will also give you a weapon and occasionally a new skin for your paraglider.

The underground coliseum is a mother load. A pure test of endurance.

Came across some 3-headed dragons. No idea how to battle them. Worry about it when I have more than 4 hearts.

Got thr final Purah Pad unlock on the ability wheel and it's a massive QoL improvement.

In the depths. Don't wanna spoil any more than that unless a spoiler thread is made.

Where do I buy bombs? I went to the usual place from BOTW the marketplace where you have to dress like a lady to get in; and I can't get past the sandstorm. Do I join those american dudes by the fence? How?

Wait! I stopped once and he gave me nothing. I will stop next time I see him. I was waiting to see his dumbass in the sandstorm by those skeleton monsters.
