Looking forward to playing tomorrow. I got the poor mans version. Any tips I should know?

Carry a lot of different guns. Find your cargo on your ship asap. Hacking is obviously worth it.

Is anyone playing on the hardest difficulty? I think that’s my plan. My first FO4 play through was on either normal or hard, I can’t remember. I had fun but my next two play throughs were on survival and I had a blast! Added a totally different feel to the game. I know Starfield isn’t a “survival” type game but I still feel like the hardest difficulty will make it more enjoyable/immersive. For me at least

but uh, don't store your weapons on the weapon racks in the ship. there's a glitch that disappears the guns after you exit the ship.
weapon crates, storage boxes, and cargo hold are fine.
luckily I had a recent save to revert back.
Dang it. That happened to me too (thought I was going crazy) but now I've modified the ship and I'm not sure I feel like going back to a previous save...going to have to think about that one.
ETA: But really, I can't stress this enough everyone. If you get that quest I mentioned on the previous page ("Mantis"), stop whatever you're doing and do it immediately. Totally worth it but probably only as long as you're still a "lower" level.

quote:I just found a trader and lockpicked the ship to add to my now fleet. Pacifist style, not a single shot fired. (Level is currently 8) Gonna see if the finding planetary ship tip holds true and try for another! (will relate back if holds up, just in separate thread so as not to spoil anything.)

Have seen a couple minor bugs like mobs rag dolling across the landscape. Graphics tweak I added opening FOV some and changing the haze to a more pleasant tone are nice. There's loads of stuff appearing to mod already.
ETA: The method I heard for easily finding planetside ships to wander away with is holding. Now have a Va'ruun Litany ship that only had to kill 2 to get the ship. Looking forward to the Tips/Tricks thread soon.
ETA2: Just got another ship, UC version of the starter(450 cargo though), lockpicking

Played a lot today, up to a 9 and have pretty much exclusively done main missions about to go to Neon. I have 3 skill points saved up and basically all my cash, going to do a little skill tree research to see how I want to build out my character. This game is fricking insanely large. It feels so massive and I've been to like 6 planets.

I've found a good bit of fun just doing radiant quests for Freestar Collective. The environments are actually incredible, the combat is fun and intense, and the rewards are awesome.

hell nah

I don't know how it is for this game, but harder difficulties usually just make enemies bullet sponges and loot is less available. I'm not trying to sweat like that during my first playthrough

I'm definitely enjoying stealth, theft, and security.
I'm pickpocketing all these mfers and cracking locks

Pay attention to gear. Gives bonus % for things like this.

Also just FYI you can sleep in beds, you have one one your ship, and you get a 10% XP bump for 30 minutes

Having the ability to improve your ship locked behind character progression was a poor choice. I am waiting to be gated by some main mission or side quest that I absolutely cannot get past due to needing a Class B or Class C ship, but thus far, space combat feels like such an afterthought that you are gimping yourself if you focus on the space flight skilltree.

Yeah I can really care less about spacefighting. I just want to run around hack turrets and murder shite with my shotty.
Weapons are a lot of fun in this game. Carrying a large variety makes taking down enemies pretty fun for now.
I'd rather invest in crafting mods for my guns at this point.

Eh, this is par for the course for anything Bethesda does. You can also avoid space combat early, though it's tough for me to turn down a fight. There's also practically no way to cheese space combat so you have to either have a good enough ship or die.
I think it was pretty well balanced, but I also haven't progressed far enough into the story to feel any pain.

I had a side story with space combat that, even turning it down to very easy temporarily, was frustrating as frick. I already spent some of my early points into the ship stuff, but feel like I may need to invest more for any other possible tough fights. I do feel like I'll be missing out on developing other skills like my weapons, so may hold off as long as I can.

it also restores your health if you just do a quick hour..
I've found plenty of beds before/after some difficult boss fights
