There's also a Hide/Show Helmet in breathable areas, as well as a Hide/Show Spacesuit in Settlements option. So you don't need to go into inventory everytime you don't want to be in your space gear for immersion sake.

If you steal a ship from pirates, check it very thoroughly for contraband because the UC scanners can find it easily

I'm up to a whopping level 7 and like it so far. Some things could have bee explained better. I went in totally blind so I still don't know how to do most things. As one poster said ammo can be scarce and expensive to buy.
I've mostly "played around" but have done some simple quests and now have an extra ship. I have no idea how to put it to good use but I have it
I avoid all guides etc since half the fun is figuring it out. but have one question. Is there no "local map" to help find your way around cities like New Atlantis? The ground map is useless, I'm looking for ones you can find specific shops etc on.
This game will claim well over 1000 hrs of my like when it's all said and done.

Gonna be incredibly vague, but this didn’t end up like you would expect. Might not be the worst thing to happen to me so far.

Same. It's wild that I haven't even begun to even hint at exploration and ship building yet, I only just know they exist. Game does a good job expanding the scope. Probably better than any Bethesda game so far.

I just spent eight hours running the first *two* missions for the UC Vanguard faction quests.
To say this game is huge is a rather large understatement.

I finally left New Atlantis. Did every quest I could find on planet.

88 on metacritic.
Critics seem to love everything but the writing.
Hard to get a read from streamers. So many, particularly Sony fanbois, already hated this game when it was announced. . .and jump on any reason to trash it.
I was annoyed when I heard the 30 fps limitation. Then I read why it was done. Made sense.

You can get shielded cargo bays to install on your ship to evade scanners.
A few ways to get them. You can join the Crimson Fleet or Travel to the Red Mile in Primori III. You cant shield 100% of your cargo but you can get it up there. Contraband has the Yellow tag and stolen as the red..
I am thinking about making a ship just for this purpose and keeping my contraband at my outpost until I am ready to go sell it all. The sad part is, so far, most Trade Authorities lack the funds to dump all of your cargo.

Same, I went into this game blind and like to figure shite out myself so I avoid any 3rd party reviews/videos/guides. The Help screen in the pause menu has a lot of great info since things aren't explained to you otherwise.
I'm 9 hours in and barely scratching the surface, but really enjoying it so far.
I'll just echo everyone and yeah, this game is MASSIVE. it's incredible how much there is to do and explore.
thinking this for me as well

I haven't maxed out my 02, etc. yet but starting to feel like they really should have included some sort of rover exploring vehicle. Some points are so far that running to each one becomes a chore.

it would be cool if you could have a rover placement for an outpost
eta: when on planets with low gravity, jump running will help you recover oxygen (especially if you're encumbered) and you can travel a little faster. or start leveling up your boost pack skill. other tip would be if you've already discovered a location, pull your scanner up and fast travel there.

Anyone giving it below a 90 doesn't actually like video games.

I know we've said a few times how big this game is, but it is interesting that all these hours in I still haven't gotten past the first level of skill trees and have only barely touched ship building and haven't done an ounce of exploring.
The amount of room Todd Howard left for mods / expansions / creation club is going to have us on this game for a decade.

Interesting, I’ve seen way more complaints about other things than the writing. UI and UX seem pretty terrible by all accounts. I’m mostly reading consumer reviews and forum posts though

Hm...only real complaint I have is they need ground maps for when you're running around. Seems like a stupid oversight. Everything else UI-wise is pretty intuitive imo.

That map is really bad. Biggest thing I’ve really picked up on in videos is the insane amount of loading screens. Every single thing you do is preceded by a loading screen. They’re not crazy long or anything but it kinda saps the immersion

Who are you guys liking for companion? I thought I'd be a Sam guy but he insists on having his kid around and that's a dealbreaker for me.
