Was hoping their deal with 2K Sports for non-simulation football games would open that door, but that was shut right in our faces.

2K hasn’t made a good sports games in years. NBA2K is coasting off it’s early decade success/reputation and their baseball game was so shitty that even XBox users weren’t buying it.

2k's Franchise mode blows Madden out of the water and it's not even close. The only gripe people have for 2k is that you can just buy VC to upgrade your player's overall rating. So it's a pay to win setup. But it's still a far better product than Madden has been in the past decade. Madden franchise is just basically Play-Now with trades and contracts. There's nothing more to it. Plus Madden is completely broken with head scratching bugs. I haven't even ventured online since Madden 25 just because I know it's riddled with people running money plays non stop..
Not to mention the game breaking exploits:

Disclaimer: Can't accurately say which game is better due to the fact that one is a football game and one is a basketball game. I was just commenting on the fact that 2k is a much deeper game with more features and game modes.

2k20 is terrible but looks like GOTY compared to Madden.

2K hasn’t done shite with their franchise mode in at least 4 years. Their gameplay is dookie and easily worse than Madden. At least Madden you know the problems that it will have. 2K is a roll of the dice in how can we make this game shitty.

Both EA and 2K run their sports game franchises like they’re late stage MOBA/Battle Royale games. Keep the same base model, and employ enough staff to refresh graphics, make some slight gameplay adjustments every year, occasional updates, and produce tons of cheap meaningless content for whales to soak up. The fact that Madden still charges for you to buy the game when we know they’re taking in tons of cash on MUT is absurd. I think if Madden is gonna keep the same model, they should go F2P and invest more into MUT. By going F2P, they’ll end up getting tons more revenue into MUT by exposure
But I’d rather they keep charging for the game, get rid of MUT, and put time into recreating the game and making it enjoyable and bug-free. That doesn’t pay the bills though

I dusted off the Gamecube and played some old Madden the other day. It's amazing how it can be 15 years old, but smoother than the shite they currently have.

I just got back into trash arse Madden last year and was a top 100 player in MUT for about two months before I quit.
Think I’m taking another year off like I did M19.
