The god of war reboot was enjoyable.
Ragnarok felt like a miss. I wouldn’t have been interested in Faye regardless, but I wasn’t particularly interested in the next entry for this series whatever it would have been.
God of war’s setup into ragnarok felt squandered and it seemed like they don’t know where to go next for kratos or Atreus in the epilogue.

It doesn't actually - it gets worse. It has a twist that should've been epic but was completely pointless, a mcguffin to push Atreus' story along that is pointless and brushed aside, and Ragnarok itself is a 45min linear corridor fight where you fight the same Einherjar mooks you've been fighting all game while all the cool shite happens in the background.
Top 3 biggest letdowns of my gaming career. Totally mishandled by the writing team and the circumstances around "let's make 2 games instead of 3." It's painful to think about what it could've been. 2018 was such a better product in terms of everything but enemy variety and bosses.

Was disappointed
Man a prequel with Thor would have been great. Wasted opportunity, imo
But hey, maybe this will be good. I just have no interest in Freya as a character. She is mostly a shrill, whiny shite with the power of shrillness.

It's Faye, Kratos's dead wife. The story takes place in the afterlife after her body is burned in the first game.

I absolutely loathe that nepo baby actor, he's awful, he's annoying. Knowing he's in it now, i can almost guarantee the game is trash.

Beyond the specific objections to this game I'm sensing a major sort of just fatigue with the "Sony" style single player game.
I've seen a lot of that as an undercurrent to this.
Saw a video where a guy who's actually was defending Fey game said all these sony games are running together for him, because htey all look the same, play the same, have the same structure, etc.
And I do view Ragarok as a big turning point. I actually really liked 2018 and like everyone else was looking forward to Ragarok and was completely underhwhelmed. The thought of even playing a Kratos lead GoW game in that style is not interesting to me, I'm certainly not interested in a spinoff that is going to copy every single negative thing about it beat for beat.

They're called "MOOVIE games".
It started with the Uncharted series, but it turned into a cancer after the success of the first Last of Us game.
