Agreed. Series X is an incredible system.

The series x has a 10% faster CPU and 20% more powerful GPU than the PS5. And remember, this is a apples to apples comparison since they are both running on identical custom AMD APU architecture, so performance numbers will scale identically. The only real difference is die size (how big the actual microchip is) with the Series x having and 18% larger surface area to pack more GPU transistors and CUs, 14.5 million and 52 CUs vs 10.3 million and 36 CUs. The Xbox series x has their gpu clock is locked at 1.8ghz and the PS5 can reach up to 2.2ghz, the higher clock rate is what allows the PS5 to close the distance back down to about 20% less graphics performance. The Xbox series x could in theory be overclocked to a similar clock rate in the future that the PS5 is at, 2.2ghz, but this would require a redesign on its cooling system and power supply. Both of which would require a changes to be made in a later iteration of the series x. The benefits of this would probably be a 40% overall increase in power over the PS5 vs the current 20%.

TLDR: the Xbox series x is significantly more powerful than the PS5 but due to design choices it is only about 20% more powerful.

You’ve been saying this since forever yet Sony is still here. Something isn’t adding up.

There are so many factors that would make real world performance similar. First off, I'm most situations a 20% bump in performance will be un noticeable in real world situations. For example, say the game is locked at 60fps between Xbox and playstation. The Xbox could run the game at 80fps and the PlayStation is running at 65fps. But both lock the framerate at 60 fps so they look identical in real world scenarios. The only time you would notice a difference is in super busy scenes when there are tons of assets. In this scene the series x could be running 60fps still while the PS5 crashed down to 45fps which will now be noticable.

Another time you will notice it more is when the systems are getting close to end of life and they are each trying to stretch out every last bit of performance from aging hardware. The series x with it's higher performance will eek the PS5 out here also.

Yes. Differences are negligible.

The real differences is Game Pass and better backward compatibility for the Xbox Series.

Well in a genius move, Microsoft will have to spend this entire generation hamstringing all it's games so that they'll work on the series S.

So the X is definitely faster, unlikely it will ever be used however.

Absolutely not. But it is still a good comparison to compare my 2 PCs against a series x and s. Also a series x is going to have graphics similar to a 3070.
