Star Wars Squadrons developer EA Motive is working on the revival of an established, fan-favourite IP.
That's according to a comment made by GamesBeat's ever-chatty Jeff Grubb, which was picked up by VGC, and which tallies with information we've also heard.
According to Grubb, EA plans to announce the project at its upcoming EA Play event in just a few weeks' time. So, act surprised.

What could it be? Well, a tease from Grubb makes it pretty obvious. "We're going to see it... if we're not dead first."
EA's Dead Space franchise has been mothballed since 2013, when Dead Space 3 launched to a lukewarm reception. Its addition of co-op, which completely changed the way the creepy sci-fi survival horror series played, was blamed on EA by fans at the time. Early ideas for a Dead Space 4 were subsequently shelved, and the series put on indefinite hiatus.
The first two Dead Space games remain beloved, though developer Visceral Games sadly shut down in 2017. The studio's final project was Amy Hennig's single-player Star Wars game code-named Ragtag, which also ended up canned.
In the years since, EA has seemingly come around to the idea of big budget single-player games again. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did the numbers, while this year's long-awaited Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has been warmly received.
EA Play 2021 is due to take place on Thursday, 22nd July.

Dead Space 3 - Sunny Ice Planet, Run and Gun Enemies, This time you aren't even alone when you fight!!, A Planet, pew pew pew like Gears of War

Man I loved the first 2 games, played them in the basement of my house with all lights off eating candy and drinking Monster to stay awake. Headphones on, great times and I probably slept with 1 eye open for months after both

I tried the first one back in the day where I couldn't get my head around the concept of a game not having a gun.

I see that all 3 are on Game Pass. I take it they are still worth a play?

You use some kind of cutting tool to dismember all the monsters, right? If it was just an early game mechanic, I didn't play long enough to find out.

Dead Space 3 was a dud, let us hope for a good story or at less atmospheric horror like 1.

They are space age mining tools but they are still projectile based weapons...and there is an assault rifle in the first one. More guns appear in later titles. If you are into scifi or horror then the first one(and the 2nd imo) is worth a re-look.

The Dead Space games got noticeably worse with every installment and had a full blown identity crisis by the end with whether or not it wanted to be survival horror or action.
Not to mention EA and the damn micro transactions were annoying AF

If they do this right and kind of reboot the series in a good direction I’d be very very thankful.
Dead space 1 & 2 were great.
