I don't think that video is right. I bought the ultimate and I don't have half that stuff.

This currency system leaves me playing hand to mouth. I was in a posse with some guys last night and they were all trying to conserve shots lol. I did a stranger mission that was a hit job for James Langton and got a whopping 3 bucks for it. Some of the main mission pay outs are okay, but damn this shite is expensive.
When you do that first mission to get a horse I picked out this beautiful black Kentucky Saddler and in the cut scene they gave it to me and I was excited. Right when I entered free roam it was a shitty ugly Morgan. I was so upset.

I earned $50 hunting around Rhodes last night in 30 min and I am only lvl 5. I also did 3 gang hideouts and I have 300 bullets between my 2 guns. Plenty of food cooked and hay only costs 25 cents.
Going to finish the story tonight.
Hogtie a deer, kill it with knife, sell carcass.
Shoot birds in the swamp. They sell for 2.50 for a "good" pelt plus the feathers sell for a few bucks too.
Small alligator pelts sell well too.
Money for ervyday playing is not hard to keep up IMO.

Yea it is rough. Hunting is a big earner right now. The Emerald Ranch killing spree works pretty well. There is a house just north of there that has a bunch of animals too, and less people to worry about.
Basically kill and skin all the animals -> start -> online -> free roam and it will load you into a new session right there and the animals should have respawned. Rinse and repeat until your inventory is full. Then go sell to a butcher. I did one it once at Emerald ranch without respawning it and got around $20 just selling all the meat and what not.

Also, for PvP stuff, the varmint rifle is actually really solid. It is a one shot kill with headshots, and it was much easier to get headshots for me than the repeater was.

Also- if you don't have the companion app on your phone, I HIGHLY recommend downloading it. You can look at a live feed of the map without having to open it in-game.

I haven't seen a single microtransaction yet
They may just be speculating because items in the game are very expensive and money is a grind to get. I do think Rockstar will need to address how expensive some items are. I mean to improve the rifling of a gun, it was $80. That is a lot of game time for something pretty minimal.

Someone mentioned it takes 12 gold bars to change the starting pistol to black.

I definitely think the economy is broken, especially the gold bars. Things are way too expensive for the amount of money you get for doing activities. I've played a decent amount and I think the total amount of gold bars i've collected is like 1.2. Once you get done with the opening story missions, any substantial amount of money will be very hard to come by.
They are going to have to lower the prices of things or there will probably need to be microtransactions because someone that can't play hours and hours every day just isn't going to be able to get half decent gear and thus will be severely out matched on gear alone in any type of pvp scenario.

I expect a major shift in either prices or the amount of money you are able to collect in missions/looting.
