The ship combat is one of my favorite parts of the game. I've got mine almost fully upgraded so I'm just sailing around wrecking shite.

I’m just now at level 15, but I haven’t really found it grindy yet. I also am not that bothered by the mercs.

Good game though. Surprisingly good for me.

You are getting to the point where it is, by the time you get a full set of legendary gear to get the 5 piece bonus you are near end game so don't worry about the set bonus, pick gear that fits your play style and stick with it. The ship battles aren't that bad if you upgrade ship armor and pick one take it down and then move on to the next, don't worry about sinking it you can clean up that after they others are disabled.

I agree with others on the console players attacking you when you are trying to kill someone. I once started taking someone down and by then end had 3 merc on me too.

I'm level 34, completing the pirate, hooker, doctor quest after Athens. Killed enough cultist for lvl 4 spear. It still looks like I have a lot of map to discover. I don't think I will have any trouble getting to 50, but I am getting tired of all the ?s. I was taking my time at each one that required killing a camp, but now I just run in, flame sword, and wreck shop.

I'm also getting wrecked in Ship combat and all my upgrades are in the purple range. Just tried to do a naval battle and I'm going down without sinking an enemy. I don't remember it being this hard in Black Flag.

Make liberal use of the ram ability and make your ship harder to hit by not letting the enemy maneuver to the side of your ship.

Reached level 50 yesterday. Just finished fighting with Brasídos in Macedonia.
I have 70+ hours in it now. Still two more artifacts to find, 20 cultist and however much longer in campaign.

I’ve been to every spot on the map but haven’t 100% yet.

I just hit level 45. Around 60-70 hours in. I still have 15 named locations to explore on the map and my next story mission is to meet my mother after defeating the rival island that blockaded her in. I also just collected my first artifact from the Minotaur. I'll be honest, had no idea it was a hologram and just figured they gave up all realism for Odyssey

Still have plenty of cultists to kill. Haven't revealed any of the inner circle of cultists yet. I think I have 3 more kills to unlock the level 5 spear so I can finally upgrade my skills to level 3.

I was hoping to finish before RDR2 came out, but I'll be lucky to beat it by the time a new Creed game comes out.

I'm at level 19 and feel like I'm finally really diving into the story. I'm really enjoying the game. One of my favorite AC games so far.

quote:

The one thing that irritates me though is the mercenary system. I don't feel like it was well thought out. It's way too easy to get a bounty when you're trying to complete a POI either by accidentally killing civilians who love to attack you with their broomsticks or by alerting and then subsequently murdering countless guards because the game won't let you one hit stealth kill the strongest enemies.

Miraculously the mercenaries find you within about 15 seconds of you obtaining the bounty. In the process of fighting off one mercenary, sometimes you can increase your bounty even further and end up killing 2 or 3 more before all is said and done.

Yea I agree with this frustration. Especially the civilians. They just meander through the battle and you hit one by mistake and they all start attacking. I try to avoid them but eventually they're so annoying I just kill them. But then you end up with 2-3 mercs on you and you're toast.

I also think it's dumb that the soldiers start attacking you in these fights. It would be different if they attacked the merc as well, but they never do. I get them stopping a fight, but why only attack me? Fricking annoying.

Still love the game though.

The ending of this game is so bizarre

*SPOILERS*

You rescue your sister and then the next scene is you all sitting down having a family lunch. Your sister and your step brother start play-wrestling in the kitchen.

Nevermind the fact that your sister killed the leader of Athens, murdered your best bro, and is a blood thirsty killer who by her own admission did an untold number of horrible things in the name of the Cult of Kosmos.

You can have multiple different endings.

Don't they all center around saving family members though? Hence you get a different ending if you kill Nicholaos, etc.

Yeah. All depends on who you elect to kill, if any of them. I'm going to let them all live.

Anyone playing as Kassandra? Does she get to woo men and women too? I'm playing as Alexios and I flirt with all the women, wasn't expecting an old man to flirt with Alexios, but I used it to my advantage.

I FINALLY beat this game. I second the bizarre ending opinion. I didn't invest 100+ hours and save everybody for an awkward wrestling match.

The ending to the Cult was also meh.

The only ending I did like was the scene after closing off Atlantis where you see that Alexios/Kassandra is still alive in the present.

I see in true AC fashion, they still have no idea how to incorporate the present day story-line. Aren't the Assassin's looking for my spear? Did I miss a cut scene about that?

I slit my brothers throat and threw him off the mountain.

Nobody talks to Kassandra or my mother like that.

It seems like every AC takes the modern day storyline in an entirely different direction and literally nothing is explained

I think it is loosely based on the storylines taking place in the comics, but it would appear to me that the actual AC devs are taking a rather backseat approach to the modern day stuff.

Kassandra is a hoe for women...at least when I play as her she is.

I bought this, and Spiderman, on sale last week and can't put it down. Has elements of Black Flag, Syndicate, and Origins all wrapped into one. Spidey is going to have to wait for a bit longer.

It is one of the best open world games I've ever played. Just so much to see and to do.

Sure, it does help if you are a fan of the series and a history nerd, but it's the best AC game in years.
