I’m to the point where I meet the oracle. My question has to do with choices in this game and being a mercenary. For those playing, are y’all picking an actual side in the war? If I help bring down the power and overtake a city state, but am then directed to a new area that is in power by the side I just helped, do I just go hands off with any activities in that area that would hurt the side you just assisted? Or does it not much matter and you take whatever resources you want?

It does not matter. Attacking is always "hard" difficulty. Defending is always "normal." It's more about the reward you get at the end. Attacking gives you two pieces of purple gear whereas defending only gives you one.

Stealth patch today, quiver upgraded to Epic so you can hold more arrows and a storage chest on the ship.

Hopefully they fixed the Spartan Kick. It’s supposed to be non-lethal but I can’t tell you how many Mercs and Captain/Polemarchs I’ve kicked to death trying to recruit them.

Is the general odyssey thread now?

I’ve put in 30 hours an just got to Athens I love this game but it is missing a few things I liked from other games. No cut scenes when yu assassinate important people. And do you eventually get a house/ manor to upgrade

I enjoy the game for what it is but it acts like it doesn't want to be an AC game. Just how many points must I put in the stealth tree to actually be able to assinate NPCs? Every important character that's killable is a miniboss with a mountain of HP.

Thus far as well, it feels like the actually assassination part is relegated to side content.

WTF?!?! How can you not have that? That is such a great part of the AC series.

I've been contemplating purchasing this game. But, with COD being released today, red dead redemption in two weeks, and no cut scenes for big assassinations...I may have to pass on it for now.

Haha idk if you are serious but it isn’t that big of deal, still really fun.

I feel you with game choices. I’m trying to 100% this before red dead. Have COD downloaded but haven’t even thought of playing

Some tips imo

- Get Overpower Bow Strike, it pretty much makes the zone battles un lose able.

Get Shield Break - It's so frustrating to fight without it since 75% of your opponents seem to have one.

Bears are the best pets basically a tank.

Get your passive skills in all trees.

Get a travel point whenever you can, you will be visiting a lot of locations more than once.

Game mechanics can be clunky.

Pick a gear set and stick with it, don't waste resources upgrading anything below Legendary, between you main gear set and your ship upgrades resources are a bitch after around level 15-20.

I focused on Mercenaries, Cultists, main story, and zone battles after 100% in the first two zones. TOO MANY "?" .

The grind is real. I am done with the main story, I only have about 7 cultists left, and tier 4 with the mercenaries. And I am only level 43 out of 50.

I mean I enjoyed the cutaway scenes after you assassinate the Pope or someone from high up and it brings you to a scene of a conversation with you and the person with a white background. The short scenes where you are jumping off an elevated platform and you assassinate someone, those are always great.

Between work, school, life, girlfriend, I only have time to give to one of these games right now. I wish they had released these games 4 months apart.

This made me happy. I hate being unable to skip those scenes in Origins.

AC is a game I play for the gameplay and the setting. I don't care about the story narrative.

AC Origins was my favorite game of 2017 and I couldn't care less about the dude's son. I only cared when some historical figure like Caesar was involved.

Same with AC Odyssey.

I'm probably pretty close to a complete inverse of your stats.

I love sneaking around camps shanking people.

I find this to be a waste of time except for forts though.

Oh I know. But then again the entire game is just one big waste of time if you look at the big picture.

True but I'm just saying that the overpowered melee combat kinda makes stealth pointless except for personal preference.

The one thing that irritates me though is the mercenary system. I don't feel like it was well thought out. It's way too easy to get a bounty when you're trying to complete a POI either by accidentally killing civilians who love to attack you with their broomsticks or by alerting and then subsequently murdering countless guards because the game won't let you one hit stealth kill the strongest enemies.

Miraculously the mercenaries find you within about 15 seconds of you obtaining the bounty. In the process of fighting off one mercenary, sometimes you can increase your bounty even further and end up killing 2 or 3 more before all is said and done.

Yeah I agree. I hate when I’m fighting some guards and a merc shows up out of nowhere

Agree with all of this.

I’m just now at level 15, but I haven’t really found it grindy yet. I also am not that bothered by the mercs.

On the other hand, man do I suck at ship combat. And it’s always like four ships teaming up at the same time. It’s gotten to the point where I just try to avoid them at all costs.

Good game though. Surprisingly good for me.
