PS5 vs XBOX Series X

Hey guys I’ve always been a PlayStation person and am very torn on which system to get next cycle. With yesterday's acquisition and Gamepass I am very torn. Can someone please breakdown the pros and cons of the two systems?

Been a PS person for a while too, but just preordered the new Xbox. Most games I will play will be cross platform and it might have a slight edge graphically, so if I keep the preorder I guess it'll all be fine.

I've always had Xbox, but never really harbored loyalty to it because I just get whichever ones my friends play on. With the new consoles, I think I am going PS5 as Xbox exclusives will be available on PC and my friends are split on console choice. Seems like I'll just be getting the best of both worlds that way.

Get both. Problem solved.
I personally like XBox more as I can easily make it the centerpiece of my home theater system. Love the Logitech Harmony and Alexa Integration.
I also much prefer the XBox Controller.
I have the PS for the Sony Exclusives and the XBox for all other games and things.

Do you mean games will be designed around the PS5s lesser GPU so the two systems will essentially be the same? Otherwise, the Series X has better hardware on paper and there's no argument there. Any comment beyond that is pure speculation.

There isn’t a single XBox exclusive game that has ever intrigued me, so I’m sticking with the black (white?) and blue for this coming generation.
Plus XBox lost me with their shitty original controller design. What kind of communist designed that?

The One X's GPU was way stronger than the PS4 Pro's, and what did that amount to? Pretty much nothing. Most games ran at identical frame rates and resolutions with minor variations in frame pacing and the like. shite, the PS4 Pro ran some games better because devs had easier times optimizing for it.
It's gonna be the exact same here. Most well-optimized AAA games are shooting for 4K/60 and that will be that. If you think the Series X will significantly outperform the PS5, you will be disappointed. You may get a few more frame at most. Real world performance will be virtually identical, as it has been with every previous console generation. The only console that is actually gimped is the One S
The old adage still rings true: buy PC for performance, buy consoles for interfaces and exclusives

Right, so you are saying devs will largely develop to the lesser PS5s specs and not that the PS5 can hit the same benchmarks as the Series X is capable of.

The main thing I want to know about the PS5 is if it will beep when you turn it on/eject a disc and if so, do I have the option to turn that fn thing off??

This is the smallest gap there's been between the consoles in terms of power. You're not going to see a big difference.

If they make the next ES or Dishonored exclusive I’m gonna flip. Both of those belong on PS.
I’ll be somewhat mad about Doom but nothing plays the new Dooms like the Xbone Elite controller.
