Been grappling with this myself. Think I'm going Xbox just because I've been in their ecosystem and everything I've already bought will carry over. Game Pass may be something I care about some day but haven't given it much thought with their lineup. Now if Bethesda titles go the game pass route on launch that may change.

That being said, I don't see a point to getting it day 1. I'd love to play Valhalla on it but it will run just fine on my current Gen. The launch day titles are always slim pickings on consoles and it seems even more meh with this gen. That said if one drops in my lap I won't complain.

I'd bet a lot of money that we do.

Xbox for me. The PS interface seems so outdated. However, I dont think it matters much. Still very a personal decision as both are great machines.

They will be. All XBox Games Studios titles are on Game Pass from day 1.

My PS4 was recently the hub in my living room but then I switched it back to the XB1. Absolute night and day difference between interfaces when using Prime, Netflix and Disney+ since it is nearly effortless to move between apps on the Xbox compared to the Playstation.

The One X's GPU was way stronger than the PS4 Pro's, and what did that amount to? Pretty much nothing. Most games ran at identical frame rates and resolutions with minor variations in frame pacing and the like

I've watched a lot of Digital Foundry's videos and the One X seemed to routinely outperform the PS4 Pro in both resolution and frame rate. The PS4 Pro would usually not hit native 4K.

I watch almost everything DF puts out. While there were certainly games with slightly higher frames and more stability, there was nothing major. it's not like PS4 Pro was at 30 and One X was at 60

native 4K is a tremendous waste of resources. you can't tell the difference between native and checkerboard/upscaling, AND checkerboard/upscaling frees up horsepower for higher frame rates, ray tracing, better visual settings, etc. it's why you see Nvidia pushing DLSS so hard with their GPUs. I giggle when I see console studios pushing to hit native 4k, give me the checkerboard and better frame rates

Man Carson will defend PS4 to his death. When the original stuff was released he just shite and shite on the Xbox LOL. Now with the major news and game pass... sorry bud. The Xbox is more powerful and has the exclusives. Must have been a very sad day for you. Now you can’t cucklord for PlayStation nearly as hard. And yes we know you own both. Doesn’t change the fact

Not a single thing I’ve said has been wrong. As you said, I get both consoles every gen, so i want them both to be good. I’m happy Xbox finally did something worth a frick and is giving Sony incentive to innovate - I said so in the other thread. I don’t fanboy for one console over the other, I just speak on my experiences and outlooks on both. I did the exact same thing for 360 over the PS3 because it was the much better machine

You Microsoft fanboys have big time little brother syndrome. Get shite on for 7 years and finally get a turn to flex, so y’all are just living it up LOL. Just don’t say wrong shite like so many of y’all are prone to doing. Keep pretending like you can enjoy the negligible performance increases that Xbox’s GPU brings.

I am truly happy about MS finally getting some exclusives, but I know y’all refuse to accept that. I have a PC that can boatrace both consoles combined, so I need good reasons to get the consoles. Xbox just got some

Pretty much this. Never been a fan boy of any console. Owned them all since the SNES. I was shitting on PS3 when it was out because....it was shite. 360 despite its flaws was the console to have....especially for online services. The Xbox One was just a let down in comparison. It was in the eyes of most that don’t play favorites.

But this is no longer about the old gen. It’s the new gen. We will just have to wait and see how it plays out.

However gaming on PC has made the Xbox less enticing for me because I can get access to those games. PlayStation...it isn’t as simple.

Some initial reviews coming out on the Series X. I'm a bit surprised that the difference in load times between the Series X and One X isn't greater, but I guess none of the current gen games have been optimized for the Series X yet.

Holy shite the PS5's custom I/O is actually insane.

quote:

A new video from PlayStation UK has offered up an explanation of some of the PS5 tech, including a mention of the console’s famous SSD and its 5.5 GB/s typical raw read bandwidth. However, thanks to assistance from Oodle Kraken and Oodle Texture, I/O bandwidth could actually reach 17.38 GB/s and even Mark Cerny’s 22 GB/s claim.

According to the Cbloom Rant post, Sony expects Kraken to offer up to 1.64 to 1 average compression ratio for games (hence the potential 8-9 GB/s rate). However, with Texture also onboard, that ratio goes up to 3.16 to 1, leaving an I/O unit bandwidth of 17.38 GB/s, which is much closer to Cerny’s theoretical performance of 22 GB/s. The PS5’s custom decompressor can offer equivalent performance of up to an unbelievable nine Zen 2 cores in a regular CPU according to the console’s chief architect in his deep dive of the PS5’s tech.

I end up getting both. I make my first choice depending on which system has the most games I know I want.

The PS usually wins that battle. MLB The Show in particular was enough of a system seller for me. I know they said awhile back that it will be coming to Xbox now, so that may change.

I get around to getting the Xbox later; I really like the media center and Xbox Live is still my favorite of the online services.
