PS5- HTF do you get one?

So I was in no hurry for the PS5, but my PS4 got fried last week during power outages, so now I need a replacement.
I essentially won $750 of Best Buy gift cards through work so I was hoping to get one there, but apparently you have to join their membership for $200/year just to get on a list?
Is there still no reasonable way to get one at retail price?

if you have psn account sign up for the list. i was on the list for about 2.5 months. got drawn twice. first time sold out before my turn in que but second time got my ps5.

Best Buy just had a drop and I was able to get one for a friend.

I got mine using Playstation Direct. Signed up and got an invite to buy one about 3 weeks later.

So I managed to get one before Christmas from Target. The only reasonable chance you'll have is to try to get one at the moment a "drop" occurs online. There are some folks out there who have the inside scoop on when drops will occur and exactly what methods you need to use to succeed in a drop from whichever retailer. This is the primary guy that I followed: Twitter - Jake Randall. Other guys like Supply Ninja, Matt Swider, and Wario64 are also good.

Just scored a PS5 at Walmart thru a twitter alert, but u had to have a Walmart+ subscription. Walmart+ has a free 2 week trial, but I just got my Amex Plat the other day and it covers the W+ cost.
