God, that's terrible.
Did LSU win last night? I remember going in and out of sleep just after halftime and SMU was closing that gap.
I have an itch to play some golf soon.

No they got blown out at the end.

SMU was hot though
And LSU forgot how to run offense
Their plan was for the barrage of 3 point shots to magically start falling
Plan failed

I thought they were supposed to be good at basketball. Why is the SEC terrible at hoops?
Posted on 3/25/14 at 8:27 am to The Sad Banana
SEC still has all their teams alive in the big tourney

Three teams, though. Is that a good number for a conference like the SEC?

Just like their plan in baseball is to eventually start hitting a lot of HR's.

Well, the ball does change next season right?

Send out your homing beacon for Devious. I need to talk to him/email him

Not at all. The SEC is generally considered to be a weak basketball conference, minus Kentucky most years. Florida had that run with Noah a few years back, and now they are one of the top teams in the country (I don't follow college ball anymore so I'm not sure what they did in between). But basketball hasn't been a big thing in the SEC in a while. They are a football conference. And they are pretty strong in baseball, but no one really cares.

Okay, look I'm gonna stop dancing around it. You know what "athletes" means, so why teh frick can't the SEC manage fielding better hoops teams?

The biggest reason I've stopped caring about basketball, college and pro, is this one-and-done philosophy. It completely waters down the college game because all the elite "athletes" don't stick around, and the pro game is flooded with pretty much high schoolers.
It's crazy to think that Shaq played at LSU for 3 years.

I think tradition has a big role in it. Most of the SEC schools (besides KU) don't have the basketball tradition that other schools do. Schools like Duke, Syracuse, UNC, Kansas. I think this affects not only recruits, but also coaching.

That and I can't get over the refs and the foul calls you see. That at every level annoys the piss out of me. Just about every time up the court there's a foul called and stoppage of play.
Then at the end of the games it takes an hour to finish.

I am not a fan of the one and done rule either. I wish they would set it up like baseball. Take the pro route or stay in college for 3 years
