I was actually born in 1987, and I remember playing Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bros on the NES. I just know having a PS4 Pro and a 65" 4K TV that playing a game that looks like poo would not be enjoyable for me anymore.

He can. Why can I not have an opinion that he is incorrect in his thinking BC is not important?

We mature in our gaming. The PS1/PS2/Xbox/Xbox360 hit a sweet spot for me in my gaming life of late teens to early 30s. At 7 I was playing Atari 2600, not as special to me.

10-15 years from now the 30 year olds will probably miss some of the games they played on their PS4s and wish a system had them all on there.

Thank goodness for Rasberry Pi, the 80s gaming will not be forgotten.

Syphon Filter totally got lost in the shuffle, with MGS and later Splinter Cell getting all of the stealth action love.

I always think of the MOMA level from the first SF game where you have to tail a contact through the museum.

I will raid the local Goodwill stores for SSX Tricky and PSX titles.

It'll make me sad that I let my PSX JRPG collection go on eBay 10 years ago.

Tenchu was another good one. It came out around the same time as MGS though.

My guess is backwards compatible so the games can come to their game streaming service.

It would potentially greatly boost their subscription numbers. While allowing compatibility with discs would greatly hurt subscription numbers.

You mean games that would look like Minecraft?

Well I don't play Minecraft, so that's not a really good analogy for me.

In fairness, you can do that now on PS4 via PSNow.

How is Now on PS4? It's wildly inconsistent on PC.

Would be smart and a seller if they did this. At this point it’s really annoying having to break out old systems every time I want to play a classic. Being able to confine those systems to the closet for good (or just sell them if you like) would be awesome and guarantee I buy a PlayStation 5.

I’ve owned every Playstation, except opted for Xbox One over PS4.

They don't have all, but they have psnow. Plenty of old games to stream in there. No way you could even get through them all.

So basically you e based this off of not knowing anything about the PS4.

So right around when the first playstation released. Why can't he have an opinion on backwards compatibility for playstation? With that said I do go back and play old games and I enjoy doing so.

Go back to the fort night thread and leave us ancient gamers be, child.

I haven't subscribed for over a year, but when I had it for 2 years straight, I loved it. It was great through the consoles. Certain Sony TVs would actually work with the system without a PS4.
