Also once I chose a career should I remap my attribute points?
Most likely.
But do so with caution. That is a big thing, and you will have to wait a year before being allowed to do so again.

Another thing I like about this game: The scale of the ships.
Now a similar chart...but with super capitals:
Needless to say....my jaw dropped when I saw my first Titan.
When you are in a battle, and one pops in, there is an aura of first "Oh dear God please be friendly," followed by "WE ARE SAVED!"
The fastest of the fastest ships in the game, which is traveling at a couple kilometers per second, still needs 15 or so to travel the length of a Titan.

I played for a couple of weeks. I got a Gallente Vexor and started going around hacking radar sites. I'll probably go back to it at some point, but I found most of the mundane tasks to be draining rather than fun. I didn't join a corp, so that's probably part of it.

Ok thanks, I'll have to read a tutorial on drones. I'll be sure to seek your advice if I remap.

I can see that.
Eve is kind of an oddball game.
Its not for everyone and you have to put yourself in a position to make it fun, rather than be guided there by the game itself rather than most MMOs

I like the design of the game itself a lot. I think my major problem was sitting down to play and then realizing that I need to wait for 48 hours of skill training to achieve my next goal.

You see, I like that component.
It lets my character progress if I can play or not. But I can see how it is a pain early on.
This is why I don't like the new system of having you train from basically nothing (but have 2x training speed).
I would rather get lvl 5s of the chosen basics like it used to be.
Although it is also a bit of a pain on the other end of the spectrum.
At the end though, the game is build that it is pretty easy to get the initial levels and get in a ship....but it takes fricking forever to achieve perfection in skills

Yeah, the timed skill training has both good and bad consequences for me. I spend a lot of time on my laptop in class/at work, but EVE is on my PC at home. So it's a little frustrating when I allot time for an MMO and then, whoops, I forgot to level hacking. Just a matter of staying organized and aware of the "next step" you want to take, I guess.

Later on in the game it is not really a problem to have long training times because the ships/items you are training for cost so much ISK that I am mission running in the downtime.

The world rejoiced when they added the skill training que.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Dude, we gotta keep posting until we hit a new page, those huge images are killer.

But that would take away from it.

Can you recommend some hacking missions/agents? I've been mostly just using probes.
Posted on 7/2/11 at 3:18 pm to Muppet
Unfortionately, no.
I can probably count on one hand the total number of missions of any kind I have done.
If I want to go to somewhere "different" I scan down either a grav site, or a sanctum to shoot up.

I was thinking same thing, or just start an EVE thread. How important is getting certifications? I'm going on vacation and was gonna load up the skill queue to get core competency or something.
Posted on 7/2/11 at 3:21 pm to fouldeliverer
Certifications don't really matter at all.
They serve as a good benchmark of what you want to train though. Nothing more.
It would be a rare thing that the fact that you can publically display a certification will be the difference in you getting a corp or not.
You want to get either engineering 5 (if you are combat) or electronics 5 (if you are mining) ASAP (and eventually both).
The boost in ship stats gives you room for fittings.
Another thing you don't want to neglect are your capacitor skills.
Without capacitor, you can't use shield mods, armor repairers, mining equipment, or even weapons depending on the type.
In fact, one of the main things that makes it hard to permatank the harder stuff is being able to sustain capacitor indefinitely, rather than being able to fit something that theoretically can do it.

Okay thanks! Yeah I got beat up pretty good by these pirates because I had run put of capacitor energy and couldn't boost shield or repair. What specific skill helps that? Is it just capacitor skill?
Posted on 7/2/11 at 3:36 pm to fouldeliverer
Well it also ties back into the capacity of your ship. Some skills increase your maximum capacity but it is ultimately tied back into your ship.
