Nice... UPS truck normally shows up to my house around 8pm this time of year.

How did we fix this display issue last time? The thick black border.
ETA nevermind scaling in CCC I got it.
I almost had a heart attack when I was about to put in the GPU, it's significantly bigger than the 270X and there was no way in hell it was fitting, the last quarter+ of the card was hitting the bay drives, but luckily (or maybe not may be common) the top half of the drive bay comes off, so she had plenty of room then. Easy peezy. Anyone want my PC 270X or CS450M?
It ain't great, but it's a helluva lot better than my first ever build a few months ago.

8320 @ 4.5GHz
Modest OC on the 290 at 1100/1450

Pretty good so far. My highest graphics score on a single 290 was 17225, and I think that was just a suicide run -- not game stable. My game stable graphics score was more like 16500 or so.

Your graphics score barely nudges out my reference gtx 780.
Wish they had an aftermarket cooler that looks as good as the reference cooler. I could probably get some more headroom with a better cooler

Want to hit 13K so bad but no go.
That's at 1100/1500.

Are you maxed out on your CPU overclock?
Posted on 12/9/14 at 11:51 am to ILikeLSUToo
Probably so, I've had 4.6 stable and may be able to get 4.7 never tried.

I need to replace that cheap arse case fan that pulls in air at the front of my case, what's a good one not overly expensive?

I posted the other day about my gaming rig. It is time to upgrade and i'm not sure what i want to get to upgrade. I have about $200 i want to put into it to increase my performance.
CPU - i5 3570k
GPU - Nvidia 760
PSU- Corsair cw500
Ram - 8GB
SSD - 112gb samsung and an old HDD
Motherboard - I forget, but i think i have the asrock z77
My monitors and keyboard and mouse are good.
What do y'all think i should upgrade for about $200?

Yep, if you aren't going to listen to me and find out where your performance bottleneck really is, then rule of thumb is upgrade GPU for improved gaming performance. Used 290 would be my choice too.

I haven't shopped for case fans in a long time, but I've always been a fan of gentle typhoons. They are more static pressure though, better suited for heatsinks and radiators.
For regular case fans, Corsair SP120s are popular, and the Noctua something or other with the poop brown color scheme. Both are over $20 I believe, so I wouldn't call them "cheap" case fans. What's wrong with the current one? Loud?

No it's just the stock Raidmax one and I'm sure it blows like the others did that I replaced with SF120's.

Haha, man i wasn't trying to ignore what you were saying. I just don't have afterburner. Is this the MSI after burner program? If so, where can i download and it and what do i need check when i get it downloaded?

LINK
Install riva tuner when it asks during installation.
After installation, open afterburner go to settings, click the monitor tab, and you'll see all of the things you can monitor.
Honestly, I don't have time to write a long tutorial for it. Google is your friend. I only suggested doing this because you said your friends are getting better performance with a "similar" system, so it would make sense to find out where your bottleneck is, especially since you play games that traditionally use more CPU than other games. However, even though they may use more CPU power than typical games, that doesn't mean they use more CPU than GPU power. GPU is still the best upgrade path. And if you only have $200, that's really your only option. A worthwhile CPU upgrade would cost you between $400 and $500 with the motherboard.

Okay, thanks for the help. Next time I play I will download and post what I'm running and report back. Thanks for the help. What are some things that could be wrong? Or things I could fix?
Posted on 12/9/14 at 10:19 pm to GeauxTime9
I don't know if there's anything to fix. You may just be playing badly optimized games and expecting more than they can offer. DayZ is one of them. It runs like garbage no matter what.
