I'm going to Crossfire the 2 280X in my main set up, put my 7970 in a spare set up I have, and use some parts I have to build another set up with my 7870GHz and order another 7870GHz to put with it. Set them all to mine. Might take me a few weeks to set it all up as my time is limited during the week but that's my gameplan which is subject to change.

For gaming, I'd easily say the 7870 even over an unlocked 6950. For mining it's a crapshoot. Pretty sure the 6950 has a slightly higher TDP, so that's something to consider.

My nexus 5 comes in on Tuesday
Along with 2 of those wireless chargers

I ordered the XFX Double D turbo boost 280x. For shits and giggles, I might see how tri-fire performs in games with this non-PLX board. I'm sure it will scale horribly, but this will be my first time using a 3-card setup. At the current exchange rate and difficulty, I can get my money back in a week.

Anything worth buying today?
Not sure I need anything else unless I can find a massively discounted 780 Ti

Be nice to find some watercooling deals as well. Got a H100i in my box over the weekend, need to benchmark it.

I just watched someone buy 40+k litecoins. That's over 1.1m dollars.

precisely the one I want. Let me know how awesome it is so I can live vicariously through you until I get one

I kind of wish I got the black one now to match the rest of my setup, but I'm not complaining

Guys,
I just purchased this motherboard:
LINK
And will be running 3x R9 290 GPUs. This rig will primarily be used for litecoin mining but I also plan on doing some gaming on it as well.
While this mobo has 3x pci express 3.0 x16 slots, when running three cards they will be running:
pci express 3.0 x16 x8
pci express 3.0 x16 x4
pci express 3.0 x16 x4
Will not having the full x16 going into each card affect gaming performance in any way? Thanks.

Running 3-way xfire on z87 with the hottest cards on the market? Begging for some problems
Posted on 12/2/13 at 10:08 am to bluebarracuda
I will be setting this up in an open crate with pci express risers that will put about 6 inches in between each card and will also have pusher puller fans on both sides of the crate.
Do you know whether or not running the x4 channels on 2 of the cards is going to affect gaming performance?

You'll probably see some bad scaling issues. I would have ditched the third card and went x79
Posted on 12/2/13 at 10:12 am to bluebarracuda
Well, x79 wouldn't do him any good since he said that it would be primarily for mining.
