Thank God pulling battery worked. Back up and running.
This will be a learning process for sure.

Yeah I knew about the long boot that took maybe 5 last night on very first boot.
I didn't think manual voltage and timings would reset that another 5-10 min though. Expo was coming in at 4800MHz.
It's any "first boot". So any time you clear CMOS, you should expect to wait as long as you did that first time.

Yeah I didn't clear cmos last night it just can't run the ram at its speed or timings.
Expo just gets me 4800MHz and manual just resets after it can't boot at 30-38-38 6000.
I'll try 5400 at those timings later and see if I can't get it close to 6K.
ETA: successful boot at the above timings at 5200MHz and 5400MHz and now 5600MHz. And now 6000MHz!
ETA2: Also just had Windows pop up saying it wasn't activated, I didn't clean install yet so it still had my key and brought up a window to choose 'I changed hardware recently' and it was able to activate from my old one quickly. Glad that is nice and easy now.

Booting is a good start, but make sure to run some extensive error testing with memtest and then check to make sure you aren’t throwing WHEA errors. RAM is finicky.

Finally had a night to do some overclocking and runs. Got the #3 7700X score with a 4070 and #7 overall with those two, time spy extreme.
Dialed in OC and took over the #1 spot for a 7700X paired with a 4070. 5500Ghz all core 1.270 PBO 90 level 1. #29 overall 7700X score. Large CPU lead here I took over with.

Odd that the total number of benchmark results are that low. I wonder if it's the 7700x driving that, the 4070, or both.
ETA: For context, for my hardware configuration (5800x and 3080) there are 12,096 results for TSE.
ETA: To answer my own question, looks like there have been 10,986 systems to run TSE with a 7700x and only 5,655 systems to run TSE with a 4070. So both on the low side, but the 4070 certainly being the lower of the two. But even still, apparently an unusual configuration in general, for some reason.

4070 for sure.
7700x looks like it's a little slow on the uptake as well. It's obviously been out for two years longer, so that needs to be taken into consideration, but the 5800x has been run on 95,186 platforms.
Looks like AM5 is just lagging a bit, which isn't surprising considering it's a new platform.
7600x 4,842
7700x 10,993
7800x3d 12,784

Yeah with the price drops it's picking up quick for sure. Early on was too expensive to switch to a new platform but not the case anymore.

Linus has always been an annoying little shite so it's good to see him finally get some comeuppance.
Posted on 8/15/23 at 9:20 pm to MetroAtlantaGatorFan
He definitely took it poorly.
Posted on 8/15/23 at 9:25 pm to UltimateHog
Turns out he only offered to compensate Billet Labs after the first video went up.
Funny how Linus didn't wanna spend $500 to retest properly yet they've already lost at least 10x that in revenue from canceled Floatplane subs.

Just doing some skimming, seems like a big nothing burger and just content creators doing content creator drama
I haven't watched a benchmark specific video in a long time

Yeah, but Tech Jesus takes his benchmarks very serious. God forbid you get a cfm calculation wrong in a case test video.

It's definitely not a nothing burger. Linus is getting a lot of shite right now and deservedly so.

It’s more than just an issue with their benchmarks. They negligently handled a prototype gpu cooling component from a fledging start up and did a half assed and improper review of it and told millions of their subscribers that it was a terrible product, when by all accounts, they tested it on an incorrect GPU. The start up requested the prototype back months ago after they made their video and Linus’ team replied and said they would send it back, except they didn’t and auctioned it off instead
… there is more issues as well, but that is the one that stuck out the most. Their response was to play the victim and blame gamers nexus for not contacting them before going public so they could do damage control for their massive frick ups. They released a public apology video that also includes ads and sponsorships and is also YouTube monetized
, they are incredibly tone deaf at the moment.
