Ya, the 4060 and 4060ti are in no-mans land. As is the 7600.
This generation is trash for upgrades if you have a 6xxx or 3xxx card.
I on the other hand had a 1xxx card and it was time to upgrade. Sucks, but it is what it is.

And honestly, performance this gen in a vacuum is generally solid. It’s pricing that’s stupid. So as long as you aren’t super price sensitive, there’s nothing wrong with buying into this gen if it gives you a wanted upgrade.

Still not a “good” price, and the sale is now over, but in a sign that the universe might be beginning to heal, an MSI 4080 was discounted to $999 earlier today for a few hours. Hopefully an indication of progress in the near to mid future.

Still seems $49.99 too expensive

I don't think a single 5600X3D has been sold yet at either Microcenter here. But it's not the weekend yet and I guess people only wait in line for GPUs.

It would be a lot more compelling as a $175-200 CPU

They're also selling a bundle with an Asus B550 TUF mobo and 16gb of RAM for $330.

It's in a bit of a weird spot. It's obviously a great gaming CPU, but people buying into the end of a platform cycle generally want a little more future-proofing than a six core chip can provide. Now, if I'm already on the platform and my cpu goes out, it's a great buy. But as an upgrade? It's a little tough.

You can buy a regular 5600(with cooler included), a cheap matx board, and get 32gb of ddr4 for under $300

The 5600X3D crushes it in gaming though, it's almost as fast as the 5800X3D.

Yea it’s not a bad CPU, but it’s still only 6 cores, and is made for a dead end socket. Also to factor in, if something happens to your CPU, their likely will be no way to replace it by AMD in the future since the supply is so limited, but maybe that will mean a free upgrade???There are better options for people that a truly building on a budget, especially $800 and under. Microcenter does have a prebuilt with this cpu and a 6650xt for $849, which is actually pretty insane, but of course they cheat you with a 500gb ssd and only 16gb of ram

I saw that prebuild and it suspiciously uses a stock AMD cooler on the 5600X3D.
They also have a 12700k bundle with a Z690 mobo and 32gb of DDR5 for $350.

Ryzen 7900X ordered. Only $30 more than 7700X, no brainer. Sale for $350 from $549.

I thought you were already on the 7x00x3d
But I just got my first red switch keyboard after owning so many browns/blues. Gonna take some time to get used to.
I have too many damn keyboards now though

Yep it's been time. Prime day deal as good as it'll get for awhile I'm sure.
