And SSDs!

Yeah my 1tb 970 Evo Plus was $100 like a year ago, it's now half that.
Another thing is a high end pre build in 1999 was $3500. That's over $6400 in 2023 money but you can still buy a high end pre build for around $3500 today.

Can we just take a second that in this day and age of insane pricing, that RAM is cheap as dirt? Even the faster speeds with lowest CL's.
I paid $109 on Amazon for 32GB (2x16) of G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5-6000 CL30.
I'm just glad you didn't pull the trigger on that kit a few months ago when DDR5 prices were still silly high.

It's been cheap longer than that, since last year really.

You're misremembering, mate. DDR5 has been in a nearly linear decline for the last year. As an example, this is the kit you just bought:

Do y'all ever look at what dudes are selling on Craigslist and FB Marketplace just for shits and giggles?

I wasn't referring to that kit though, but the market as a whole. Obviously the top end kits were higher then, but not the reg kits.
If you remember back later last year I listed the RAM I was going to buy at that time from BestBuy and it's still about the same price as it was then. It's been cheap for quite some time now.

Vaguely, but not specifically, and I imagine that was too long ago for me to find with the shite search function of this site
Link to post or kit?

Yeah it was like November I may try and find it later if I care enough to search that much.

Just remembered that PCPP does market trends. Looks like all DDR5 has been on a downward linear trend, with the line getting steeper as you move up market:

Ya late last year and on its stalled a good bit as they've hit as low as they are going to go now. But that was always predicted for ages so nothing new there.

Someone here is selling a 4090 FE for $1200 on FB. That's kinda tempting.

Would y'all say that the best CPU that comes with a cooler for gaming is the 7700 non X? I know that's a weird parameter but I was arguing with someone yesterday who said the 13700 non K was better even with the stock Intel cooler.

It absolutely is.
I keep trying to figure out whether I believe it's more likely that we are going to get an interesting mid cycle refresh, or whether this is simply a lost generation (at MSRP). I go back and forth depending on the day

My kneejerk is that they would be tit for tat, with the 13700 may having a slight edge. HUB did this recent comparison between the 7800x3d and 13700k, but conveniently, also included the 7700 in all of their individual game charts (but not the end summary charts). Not a perfect comparison, as it's the k sku, but at least it puts you in the neighborhood.

I just love how efficient the non X ones are and the Wraith cooler is fine as long as you don't overclock. I suspect it wouldn't take long for the non K 13700 to throttle with the stock cooler.
