How much would it cost to get a PC to play games at an at least consistent 60 fps and on par with ps5? I enjoy how much freedom mods give and studios sometimes have built into their pc games like wider field of view etc. I mean how much to play 2023 AAA biggest budget games like ff16 remake2 and spiderman 2. I have steam and a computer that runs games but i pretty much only use it for ps3 games since theyre the ones most relegated to the dungeon.
BTW I know absolutely none of the terminology like RX8000 or whatever so if you could explain it like im Billy Madison id be grateful.

Less than $1000 if you are just trying to build a machine that can play 1080p/1440p on medium/low settings capped at 60 fps… but you’re missing a lot of details like the specific resolution you want to game at, do you want higher settings and still maintain the 60 fps, how long do you want your machine to last, do you care about ray tracing? A lot of these questions will also effect how much your Pc will cost.

I mostly play on PS5 now so I would want it to do at least everything it could do so yes to ray tracing etc. Im not sure what the higher settings actually do like anti alias or any of that my reason for getting it would be an at least exact same PS5 level experience but able to mod and have the pc port options studios give. So lets say not top of line but a little above current medium grade for that level. I would guess 3000?
ETA building a new one from scratch not adding to my current pc

I would go with something like this
PCpartpicker list
If you can go higher I’d recommend getting a 4070/4070ti as your GPU for the new dlss 3 feature along with better raytracing performance, but you sacrifice vram which you will want more of as developers continue to unoptimize games for PC, which means more vram is required for high quality textures to load. Also the case is personal preference and there are plenty of good options depending on your needs and style. I didn’t include the case fans in the list though as that also comes down to the case and your personal taste

6950XT is the perfect gpu for you.

Just ordered the ASRock Z690 Phantom with Thunderbolt 4 to go with my 12900k. Price was sketchily low, so we'll see if it even shows up

You shouldn’t have to worry if you bought from an official/non third party vendor.

It was from Reddit, but I'm still covered with Paypal G&S

So this would be true?
RX 7900 XTX vs RX 6950 XT google returned this on what seems to be a forum who knows its shite

Is RX 6950 XT worth it?
The XFX Speedster MERC 319 RX 6950 XT is quite literally one of the best priced cards right now. It isn't the best looking option that you can find on the market. But if you're looking for an absolute bargain of a GPU, this is definitely the one to purchase

Yes, 6950XT is the best priced card out there for performance per dollar.

Make your own pc for idiots
So this sight linked by another poster essentially compiles everything ill need to make it bottom up for a pc illiterate like me right? I can change things in and out and it wont compile a unbuilt machine and let me buy it?

The issue with trying to track performance of modern consoles is that they dynamically reduce resolution to float fps when needed. Just because it says you’re getting 4k RT 30fps doesn’t meant that’s actually what you’re getting.

Unrelated to anything currently being discussed, but I just realized that EK killed off their "basic" line of AIOs, and I'm fricking bummed out over it.

Are there any good AIO's that are upgradable down the line? I want to get a better AIO fory 12900k, but I also want to possibly add my video card down the line to the loop.
I know swiftech used to do something like it

While there have been some “modular” aios over the years, I can’t think of any that allowed for true multi component modular loops, though I’ll concede there could be something out there I’m just not aware of. You’re most likely going to need to do two separate aios for cpu and gpu (or a hybrid gpu), or you’ll need to go full “custom”, though most major companies are offering “kits” that basically serve as full solutions to a custom loop.

My PC is almost complete… I’m waiting on a USB Hub now so that I can actually control the AIO LCD. The GPU strimmer is going to be routed differently and the fan RGBs won’t be lame rainbow and will be correctly synced. I can hardly wait.
