The memory controller is faster on Intel, no doubt.
AM5 still has its problems.

That RAM should be fine for either. It's the 6k plus that sucks for AMD.

Yeah 6K is the sweet spot for AMD it seems.
I almost grabbed the 42" LG C2 at BestBuy the other day they had an open box excellent for $650. Just too big end of the day. That's a steal though.

I'm waiting for that OLED shite to get cheaper.
My 5 y/o IPS VRR monitor is still doing fine.
Knocks on wood. Please don't die on me, boo.

If it was smaller I woulda grabbed it. Normally 1K new. My Samsung is dying it's getting the vertical lines across entire screen at bootup. It went from just a few minutes to like 15 minutes now.
There are some disadvantages to using the TV as a monitor though mainly text clarity issues. You get very mixed reviews for them as PC monitors.

I’m waiting on a bit of an endgame monitor for me, that I’m not sure I’ll need to “upgrade” as much as just replace when it stop working:
- 5k2k (4k UW)
- 144hz ish
- Full true HDR
- Likely OLED
- 34” ish
- VRR
I’m anticipating moving to that in the next 4-5 years. After that, the visual jump from 4k to 8k on a monitor is just so negligible that I don’t see myself being willing to sacrifice the fps.

First bootup today:
Think it might be time for the Samsung mini LED.

That’s a weird failure pattern. Could be the monitor, but I would swap cables and ports first.

I've used hdmi and dp unfortunately Samsung's are quite known for this after typically 4 years or so and it's almost at year 6 I think. Also swapped gpu's.
Once it warms up after what is now 15 minutes or so it works as normal for the rest of day. Just getting more annoying as it used to just be 5 minutes or so.
From what I've read, it should completely die before long as it progressively gets worse to where it will stay permanently like that.

Forgot to add that I'm reusing my 3080 from my prior build. frick these insane prices on gpus.

Ah yeah I was wondering where the GPU was.
I still plan on grabbing a 7900XT. Unless I decide to grab a 4K monitor for my ailing one and then it's the XTX.

The day that it does that shite is the day I get a new monitor.

In a constant, "are you a human" loop. Can't see what you have.
Not that my opinion would be all that relevant.

I just got my Phanteks Nv7 case in and it is fricking massive and heavy.
But it’s so sleek. I love Phanteks design.

I probably would have made some different choices, but that comes down to aesthetics. The one thing I would have done differently is that I would have gone with a 1TB OS drive and then the 2TB drive (or two, if I needed the space). With as fricky as OS are getting, I'm getting to the point that I would rather keep as little as possible on my boot/OS drive. Hell, I would probably do a 500gb instead if the relative value wasn't so awful. But regardless, I want to be able to wipe and reinstall my boot drive with as little pain and annoyance as possible these days, so I just wouldn't have a use for that much space on it. Rather just save the money there and spend it on a third drive.

It's about that time for sure. I need a 4K monitor for real editing anyways right?
I'm kind of kicking myself for not grabbing that 42" C2 for $650 and just making it work. Since I mount flush on the wall I do get an extra foot or two of distance versus on a desk.
At the end of the day they're so thin and borderless the actual footprint of 36x21 isn't all that bad. Of course I'm also trying to talk myself into it.
