I already bought it.

My 1080ti holds me back, but it's normal for a 7 year old card.

That was my benchmark. Not bad for air cooling. Holding 5600 for the most part. Did have some dips tho.

Yeah I knew that was just stating the current deal on Amazon.

Hell it's been tempting for me versus waiting for the 7800x3d.

Haha I disagree. No one really cares about RT other than Nvidia fanboys because they lose everywhere else. It's so annoying when they go to that excuse when the community doesn't give a shite about RT at all but if you're less powerful and all you got to go anymore have at it. Linus covered this the other day switching to his all AMD setup and talking about how RT just isn't remotely worth it, never uses it, and said that's the majority of the communities feeling so spare us the 2020 Nvidia PR talk please. No one is paying $100+ for less performance just to get a little better RT, no one.

Those days are long gone.

Now AMD is right there with Nvidia for features and often times better. I think you're kinda dated these days with your glasses on.

$799 is a good spot for it, Nvidia needs to drop below though for sure. Then again maybe they like being the worst selling cards and sitting on shelves for months.

Oh and don't forget the 12GB of vram Nvidia continues to shite out. I member when people made excuses for all the 8GB 3000 series cards.

Your projecting your fanboyism is rampant, as always. My personal beliefs are irrelevant: the market has spoken loud and clear, and it's willing to pay about a 20% premium for an Nvidia product equal in raster to an AMD product. Whether that's because of RT, DLSS, stability, studio features, etc, that's simply a fact, and is illustrated by the further fact that AMD has been hemorrhaging GPU market share for the last several years.

I've spent the last few months saying all of this year's releases have been dogshit. You've spent the last few months saying that Nvidia is terrible and that AMD has released cards that were god's gift to gamers, with lots of for emphasis.

And what's actually happened? Everything except the halo 4090 is sitting on shelves collecting dust, just as they should, because they all fricking suck from a price to performance perspective. But sure, I'm the fanboy

Figures. Everything goes on sale after I buy it.

Of course, Amazon doesn't do price matches after sale.

And ya, the 7800x3d, wasn't gonna do me any good at this time. I might get the 8800x3d or w/e when I have a better card.

Guilty as charged. Although, a 7900x around 700 would be very tempting. It's still 100 too high at 799.

Jesus this reads like Nvidia marketing material for mediocre features no one uses or the competitor offers the same. Equal in raster? Where? Nvidia wishes for 2 gens that were the case.

Ignorance is bliss. Nvidia down 42% in GPU sales last quarter. Sent investors into an absolute rage how bad the GPU division has been doing. But please tell me more about stock related info.

I don't even think I've talked about the gpu's really at all. Maybe you are confusing cpu's or grasping.

Yeah but they were always going to get more and more discounted after the 3D drop.

BURN THE FANBOY!!!

Jokes aside, to give my own personal opinion instead of discussing market trends generally, I think whether the premium is worth it depends heavily on where in the stack you're buying into. I'll use myself as an example. I game in 3440x1440 playing big, sexy single player titles. All four (I'm ignoring the 4090, because halo cards never really belong in a value discussion) relevant cards, the 4070ti and 4080 from Nvidia and the 7900xt and xtx from AMD, will give me functionally equivalent gaming experiences at my resolution in pure raster. Will they all give different actual framerates? Of course. Will I notice the difference between 120fps and 150fps? Almost certainly not. Then again, I probably wouldn't notice the difference between any of them and my current 3080. That's why I've been pushing "budget" gamers towards the 6800 from last gen, as it's really great from a price to performance perspective, and fits neatly at the bottom of the mass of cards that will give "can't really notice the difference" levels of performance below 4k in pure raster. And at that performance level, worrying about things like RT is just silly.

But with all of that said, if you are going to buy into the top of the stack, all of a sudden, features matter a ton. Because if you can't tell the difference in pure raster, the differences in pure raster simply stop mattering. All of a sudden, it's "well, if I'm going to spend this much money, I at least want the option of fricking around in RT; if I'm spending this much money, I want the best upscaling tech to make sure I'm not getting smudging/ghosting", etc, etc.

The reality is that we're reaching the point with GPU tech that unless you play at 4k, use RT, or both, there's flat out no reason to be buying near the top of the stack. I'm actually genuinely curious to see how gamer sentiment shifts in the next few years as people start to slowly realize that, as reviewer benchmarks start creeping upwards into CS:GO territory as far as framerate. I'm also very curious to see how the GPU producers handle it.

As always these days, we live in interesting times

Just to put it in easier context, Nvidia makes $190M more in gaming revenue than AMD despite having more than 3x the market cap as AMD and only making GPU's.

Don't ever let anyone tell you Nvidia makes more on gaming than AMD, it's a false narrative.

What are you babbling about?

GPU market share != stock price. You're babbling again. Also, the last time we discussed this exact issue about a month ago, your response was that AMD doesn't care about GPU market share on this page.

Are you ok? You seem to have become rather forgetful.

Just skimming this thread alone, I found this page, this page, and this page before I got bored.

As always, which is seen clearly on those pages as well, I heavily critique both companies. You do nothing but fellate AMD. It's fricking boring, and frankly, I'm not sure why I even respond to your GPU posts anymore, because they seemingly always turn into this bullshite

Yeah to be honest your AMD gpu knowledge is severely lacking idk why I do either.

Basically just a bunch of self-inflicted shite.

First build from scratch in forever, so...

Instructions could be better tho. Case instructions were completely useless in like 5730458973 languages. Motherboard instructions were non-existent as well. Although they were somewhat useful for the bottom front ports.

O look a sata power cable for the fan hub. I'll stow it away for now and get back to it later.

Three hours later... Why aren't my fans spinning while the mobo picks them up...

Stupid shite like that.

Edit: double post.

Double edit: cleaning up double post a bit.

My God windows 11 is shite.

That was a problem yesterday as well. Downloaded all the drivers the day before and got distracted on how shitty it was.

WTF Microsoft?
