LINK ]AMD Ryzen 7000 “Zen 4” CPUs Set to Begin Mass Production: Launching by October 2022 [Report]
quote:

AMD’s next-gen Ryzen 7000 processors are inching closer to launch, with mass production set to begin next month. As per Greymon55 (one of the most reputed sources on AMD hardware), all the necessary equipment and raw materials have been prepped by the packaging plants and mass production will commence in the next 30-40 days. It’s worth noting that the 5nm compute chiplets that are the primary component of AMD CPUs have already undergone mass production to allow the packaging step.

Intel has shown strong this gen, so I'm pulling for AMD to release a winner. Think I'll be waiting for next gen to let everything, including DDR5, settle out, though.

Yeah I'm glad I waited, now I can jump in with Zen 4 and be set for long term with DDR5 and PCIE5 established and nothing new coming for awhile unlike with 4.

Yeah Intel showed strong vs last gen, we'll see if Intel can catch back up or at least get close to Zen 4.

Yes and no. Current DDR5 is kinda shitty, and there’s no guarantee whether first Gen boards will last as long as they did on AM4. I think there will be a lot of headaches for early adopters.

I think the early adopters are the ones on it now.

But DDR4 works great you don't have to have it on most boards if not all they are backwards compatible with both.

Anyone need a 3080? Got an extra (EVGA FTW3 Ultra B Stock) and don't need it, I'll sell it for what I paid

ehhh I'll pass on that one. I'm eyeing 6900 XTs on eBay around that price, but I'm still kinda waiting to see what 4000 and 7000 series brings

AMD's 5000 series still competes with Intel fairly well in terms of performance, but they needed to fix the pricing months before Alder Lake was released.

I agree that AMD was a little greedy on pricing this Gen. It’s actually why I passed for a while, only pulling the trigger on a 5800x a few weeks ago at $330. Which is around where it should have been to begin with.

I wouldn’t feel too badly about that, considering it was a year ago

Considering the improvement over the 3700x, and the fact that Intel hadn't released Alder Lake yet, plus this was 2021 (pricing lol), this wasn't a bad price at all.
