Lot of smoke lately that Zen 4 is going to mop the floor with raptor lake.

My body is ready to pre-order.

I genuinely hope so. I plan to skip this generation of CPUs, but that would bode well to how sexy my upgrade will be when I finally decide to jump platforms.

I was considering that 42" LG C2 as a monitor but $1399 seems a little much when end of the day it's a TV.

Still think even mounted on the wall and 3-4 feet back 42" is still too big anyways.

Also this
quote:

LG has confirmed that the first batch of 42-in C2 OLED TVs to be shipped will not purely contain the latest OLED EX (WBE) panels. Instead, some of these smaller TVs will have the older WBC OLED panel.

The tech company explained that the lower-spec panels were being used due to supply chain issues. LG said it would revert to using the planned OLED EX panels in the second half of the year.

5900x down to $400

We're getting back to good times in the hardware space

3D stacked cache is looking as advertised.

5800X3D first game test 16% win over 12900K. Slaughtered.

No wonder all the rumors are AMD pulling way back ahead with Zen 4 over Rocket Lake.

AMD just continues to lead the space with new hardware tech, really pushing everyone these days. GPU side as well with the full year lead on MCM.

Zen 4 entering mass production in a couple of weeks. I'm so damn ready.

What a ride for my 8700K though, preordered all the way to today at 5GHz all core, ran 5.3GHz stable all core. Delidded plus liquid metal and she was an epic CPU for me. Gonna keep it may even put it on a shelf as a display.

Call me skeptical, but I have a hard time believing the 7700 will be equal to the 3090.

Obviously would love that, but skeptical

Gotta remember it's two GPUs in one though.

Zen 4 news just continues to be stellar. Intel is in real trouble again.

quote:

But during the Q&A session, Joseph Tao made a really interesting statement regarding the next-gen Zen 4 powered Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' Desktop CPUs. Following is the specific quote:

Our first DDR5 platform for gaming is our Raphael platform and one of the awesome things about Raphael is that we are really gonna try to make a big splash with overclocking and I'll just kinda leave it there but speeds that you maybe thought couldn't be possible, maybe possible with this overclocking spec.

Joseph Tao, Memory Enabling Manager at AMD

Now we know that AMD is targetting really high clock speeds with their early prototypes already clocking in at 5 GHz across all cores and even higher when running single-core workloads.

With 128 bit buses the 7700/7700XT will probably be 8 GB cards

The 192 bit 7800/7800Xt would be 12 GB cards

Cant have 12GB of VRAM with 128 bit bus and cant have 16 GB of VRAM with 192 bit bus

With VRAM pricing I bet they keep current gen memory size in the 7xxx series with 8/12/16 setups.

That being said A $500 card with 8GB of VRAM in 2023 would be a tough sell

I would guess it would be 7600/7600XT with 128 bit bus and 8 GB of VRAM, 7700/7700XT with 192 bit bus and 12 GB of VRAM then the 7800/7800XT with 256 bit bus and 16 GB of VRAM with a 7900XT maybe clocking in with a 320 bit bus and 20GB of VRAM...then a 7950XT down the road with 24 GB of VRAM and 384 bit bus.

Ya from all I've read the 7950 is 32GB. Nutty.

I see they have already "cracked" and unlocked the overclocking on the 5800X3D with chips hitting 4.8GHz all core. That was almost too easy I wonder if AMD did that on purpose and by doing so you void your warranty so have it to them right?

Leaving room for Ryzen 7000 product stack maybe later this year?

I would bet the 7800X will also be $449 and they drop the 5800X3D to $399 or something...but at $399 dont want you basically overclocking it to 7800X performance.

$499 for 7800X wouldnt surprise me either though, and maybe they would plan a small price reduction in 5800X3D to like $429

Very likely I'd think.

AMD with the world's first 3GHz + GPUs this Gen overclocking monsters like we've never seen and now time for the CPU side. 4.9GHz all core today for 5800X3D reported.

All lines up with the rumors I posted about Zen 4 hitting 5GHz+ all core OC's easily. I'd bet we're looking at 5.2GHz OC on most chips all core with 3D vcache. Jeeeeesus.

Considering how serious AMD has sounded about their warnings on this, if I owned a 5800x3d, I would tamp down every urge to the contrary and just run it stock, or maybe play with some undervolting if it seemed to take well. I wouldn't be applying any positive voltage or clock offsets. Just sounds like that would be playing with fire on this particular sku.

As long as you have the cooling, which if you're buying this and for that price on launch you do, I'd be OCing the frick out of it for fun.

4.8GHz all core stable yesterday, 4.9 today.

He posted a screenshot of CPU-Z with the new AMD chip running at a whopping 4.82GHz frequency, a voltage of 1.306V, a 45.5 multiplier, and a base clock (BCLK) of 105.99MHz. As such, it’s worth noting that he squeezed an extra 300MHz out of the chip while staying well within the voltage limit.

Just makes me even more excited for Zen 4 though than anything else.

The construction is so new, I just wouldn’t be willing to risk it. But Godspeed to everyone else
