How does this build look for $2150? Ship date is 4 weeks which I can wait. Seems to be really good. Note that it shows 8gbx1 RAM but there’s a free upgrade to 8gbx2

Samsung unveils 2021 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup with flat panels

quote:

The G70A is the top of the line model with a 28-inch, 3840x2160 IPS panel that has a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. The panel has peak brightness of 400 nits, with 300 nits typical brightness and it supports VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard.

300 nit brightness? Faux HDR? Yikes. Big downgrades from last year.

LG GN950 still uncontested well into 2021.

Took the plunge and updated to Windows 11 Pro today via insider program.

Not bad so far really, definitely a little cleaner.

EVGA is making an AMD motherboard.

EVGA Joins Team Red, Teases First Ever AMD Motherboard

A new nine-second teaser from EVGA suggests that an X570 motherboard is in the works. The news comes as a shock to the hardware world as EVGA has never produced a motherboard with an AMD chipset before.

Speaking of motherboards anybody ever had a mobo that they had to disable and re-enable the ethernet controller every time they either turn on the computer or awaken it? Internet still somewhat works without doing that but its at like 1% of that its suppose to be

Disable energy effecient ethernet in your adapter settings. And ultra low power mode if it has it.

Are their motherboards even any good now? I know they used to be so terrible, but that was back in the x79/x99 era

You have to be pretty desperate to be paying the premium right now for graphics cards IMO. I built this system out almost exactly on pcpartpicker (no swapping of anything really except i did a NZXT H510 case) and without the 3080 it was $950. If in a couple months people can actually grab 3080's for $700-$800, that's really like a $1650-$1750 PC instead of the $2150 they want to charge you. Keep in mind, they are able to get these 3080's at much cheaper prices than we are, so they are making a ton of money probably selling something like that for $2150.

I paid 1300 for a Red Devil 6800XT back in the beginning of feb. I was desperate, and scared the current BTC price(50k) would cause all cards to disappear.

AMD up over $93 today

From $72 back a month and a half ago, been bagholding 100 share @ $92 for a while now, just collecting premium on selling calls though

I have a build with 3070 on order for ~$1500 that is supposed to arrive early August that I can cancel anytime or refund after it ships. Hoping something better pops up between now and then but worst case, I got something under my budget.

Alright I turned off EEE, Advanced EEE, Power Saving Mode, and the power management options that allow the computer to turn off the device to save power and it still doesnt work on start up without turning it off and back on in adapters

Pentagon cancels $10 billion cloud contract with Microsoft. Looks like Amazon gets it afterall.

Big loss for MS.

Samsung bringing a nutty new and massively improved G9 49" ultrawide to the market for $2,700 in September.

quote:

5120×1440 240Hz 1ms GtG 1000R curved VA panel, but this time with a mini LED backlight with 2048 zones and ‘DisplayHDR 2000.’

While the DisplayHDR 2000 certification doesn’t (yet) exist on VESA’s website, we assume it implies a peak brightness of 2000-nits.

maybe its the old in me, or the fact i dont use spreadsheets, but I did not like the g9 and the way it stretched things around in full screen. For multiple windows and trading it would be great, but I utlimately went the cx 48' because I liked it better.
