Yeah as a shareholder I have no issues with a $50 increase for the performance gained. Even as a buyer, no issues.

No bundled coolers anymore for anything above 5600x, more bottom line there as well

I’m in for a 5900x, I picked up a 3700x from Amazon so I can complete the build next week. I’ll just ship it back once I get my hands on the 5900x.

What processor should I look to pair with the RTX 3080 I hope to find one day? Preferably something in the $300 to $400 range, but I don't mind coming up a little if I'm getting good bang for the buck on the additional investment.

Might want to wait for Big navi announcement in a couple weeks, if AMD can offer similar performance for maybe even a little less price, it could be the way to go...and actually have stock before the end of the year.
Their marketed benchmarks showed at least 1 model being within 5% (or margin of error) basically of a 3080 in performance. Most believe that's the top new Navi model....but who knows. If that model is say 5% slower than 3080 but $50-$100 cheaper and available, I'd probably get that, especially considering it will have more VRAM.

Where is the best place to get a Windows key these days? G2A, Ebay or somewhere else.

anyone considering getting a 3070 if possible or are you wanting to see what happens with the quality issues? y'all think they'll have the same issues as the 3080?

Never buy anything without seeing performance numbers and benchmarks from an unbiased source.

when is the best time to purchase upgrades for cpu/mobo/ram combo? I would like to get them before CP comes out.

I've been out of the PC game for so long but I need to build one now. I guess I better get some reading in because I have no idea what's what these days.
My last rig had a HD 7970 and FX-8350

Does this mean you'll play pc games again?
Posted on 10/12/20 at 11:44 am to Devious
Yes! I finally hardwired my house so I figured why not. I need a new machine for Photoshop and Illustrator so why not game again as well.

Prime day is tomorrow, memory has been on sale for a minute. Don’t think you’ll be seeing big discounts on MOBO’s at least with AMD because their new line is about to drop.

Anyone have tweaks/recommendations here? Looking at getting two 34" 1440p monitors.

i wouldn't buy that video card just yet.
eta: you might could hold off on that cpu as well.

Hold off on that CPU and GPU. New CPUs and GPUs are on the way from AMD.
Also you don’t need 32 GB of memory for a gamingPC (if that’s all you’re doing).
Go for 16 GB of DDR4-3200 at a minimum. (DDR4-3600 is most ideal for Ryzen)
The 970 is a good nvme ssd but a few years old at this point. The Western Digital SN750 500 GB is a newer-ish drive with similar performance at the same price, sometimes lower

Understood. I’ll standby on the CPU/GPU.
I’m going to be doing photo editing and programming but you’re right, I probably could swing 16GBs for now. RAM is nothing to upgrade. I’ll get the 3600 for that.
Appreciate all the feedback. This was just after my cursory research on Tom’s hardware.

Are you saying hold off on the card/chip to buy the new one, or would the older card/chip just drop in price?
