So what do think the performance drop off is Mr know it all?

I run my plex 24/7, game, and used to stream and didn't take any noticeable drop.

I ran over 350 fps on Fortnite and run 160 on Warzone with a gtx 1080 and 8700k all while keeping <40ms of latency.

So it sounds dumb just to spend 500 on a dedicated PC for plex for MAYBE 5-10 fps hahaha get real

How many external users do you have using your server at a given time?

If I had a 1k budget on a gaming pc, how long do you think it would last before I’d need to pay up on certain upgrades?

Depends on resolution you want and fps.

I'm still going strong on my gtx 1080 and 8700k with a plex server. Apparently I should be seeing shite performance by some users advice.

Your first upgrade would probably be a gpu and maybe 2 years after building. 3 years tops.

okay good to know because for this next console era I’m just considering getting a pc instead of a playstation but I don’t wanna spend a shite ton of money in the course of 5 years through Necessary upgrades.

You work on the worst possible outcome all the time and nothing practical. Not everybody wants to let external streaming to their plex. If somebody is by themselves and isn't watching a plex stream, wtf difference is it if it's the same machine? It won't even do anything. If the guy is like "I plan on letting everybody in my family run on my plex" then, by all means, get a separate PC for plex.

You give reddit style advice and it sucks.

1k gets you a really good 1440p 60 Hz machine (or high refresh rate-ish 1080p machine). What are your goals for this machine?

But you also just assume, oh since my little setup works, his will work just the same, when that's just as false.

We both don't know how many users will be hitting his server and we don't know if those users will be able to direct play his media without transcoding.

Because my server is getting hit by 4 external and 3 internal, while on Linux too, and getting no less than 65% usage. That would take a pretty significant hit to gaming performance

Well you finally get my point. You keep saying it's a problem and dumb but never asked if he even wants to share his plex. I have 5 people external connected to my plex but no more than 1 stream at once. I've never had an issue.

There's nothing special about my computer and my usage is typical.

id be fine with 1080p and 60fps for every game for the next 5 years guaranteed. Maybe get to 4k 60 fps on some game tho if possible. I don’t plan on doing this until maybe the fall/winter so I’ll probably come back on here and ask again.
