Blower systems must not be that bad.

You buying a CPU?

Linus's review is out. They are having thermal issues. They had a card shutdown on them. Cant remember how to resize pictures on here

Not sure still. Going to wait for some chipset/bios updates and let them work out some of the early kinks and then decide.

Yeah as for the 5700XT the blower cards are pretty terrible. Look to be worse than Vega which were mediocre. I posted above I may do a custom water cooler on it otherwise I would swap it next month for an AIB card.

Gaming X or Sapphire Nitro+ series will probably be the best AIB cards.

Of course, the drivers are one of the biggest problems right now for the 5700 series. Will be interesting to see some of the thermals and power draw after a few driver iterations from AMD.

It is fairly disappointing that the drivers are in this state for launch though.

Second hand 1070 is exactly what you want

I suppose I can look around. Kinda apprehensive about getting second hand stuff from like eBay, but I'll see what i can find.

UH, thanks for the recommendation.

The microcenter bundles right now are so damn enticing

Thinking of 3600 or 3700x for $199/$329 with:
16 gb-3200 ram ($20 bundle savings w/ ryzen 3xxx)
5700XT - ($50! bundle savings w/ ryzen 3xxx)
PC-o11 Dynamic ($10 bundle savings w/ ryzen 3xxx)

HEsitate on the 5700XT because it's all blower coolers which I hate and seems like while quieter than Vega still way louder than axial coolers on the newly released supers. Also thought about the bundle savings on PSU's but think I can do much better elsewhere for 80 plus gold than $110 @ 750watt or $115 for 850 watt fully modular. In fact they have PowerSpec 650 watt gold for $65/$75 semi and fully modular. Even PC Power & Cooling semi for $73.

Cant decide on which x570 board to with, but another $50 bundle savings there which is nuts.

That and I'm currently running a R9 280, so even the upgrade to a RX580 is quite substantial.

If you were local I would have hooked you up with a 1070 for $200.

If you use reddit, go to r/hardwareswap and buy one from there

They'll update the BIOS on an older 450 mobo for you too.

The regular 1660 is close to $200 ($208). Basically the same thing as a 590 though (which is $190 after a $10 rebate on Newegg right now).
You can get a used 6 gig 1060 on Ebay or r/HardwareSwap for around $130 if you wanted to save some more.

what does it mean when i see a monitor advertised as "1ms" instead of "60hz" or "144hz"?

That's response time. 5 or less is good for gaming.

So that is how long it takes for your monitor to shift from one color to another. TV's are like 100-200ms while a typical TN panel will get about 1ms. IPS's get around 5ms. TN are decent if you get straight in front of it and some higher end TN panels are good at most angles. IPS are better for visuals and don't have the problems with viewing angles IIRC.

It's visual lag basically.
