How would you guys rank brands (1-3)?
They're all basically the same, just have to make sure you get the right shite within each brand
Posted on 5/28/19 at 12:48 pm to bluebarracuda
when you say "right shite" do you mean components that actually plug into one another?
Posted on 5/28/19 at 12:53 pm to finchmeister08
Negative
All of their cheaper model stuff will perform the same, all of their mid level stuff will perform the same, etc etc
The main difference in brands these days is what kind of RGB support you get

that's where i'm confused. what's considered low/medium/high level?
eta: do you mean that i should use the same brands across the different components?

Surely this will cause some debate...
Motherboards:
1) ASRock
2) Asus
3) Gigabyte
GPU (AMD):
1) Sapphire
2) MSI
3) Asus
GPU (Nvidia):
1) EVGA (and it’s not close)
2) MSI
3) Asus
Hard Drives:
1) Samsung
2) Western Digital
3) Intel
Memory:
1) Kingston/HyperX
2) Corsair
3) GSkill
CPUs:
I’ll let UH and LSUCoyote duke it out over this.
Edit: I should say Gigabytes VRM configuration and motherboard quality in general for Z390 and X470 was very impressive. Their X570 offerings look very good as well.

that's exactly what i was looking for.

I’m biased based on my experiences. MSI, for example, makes quality product, but their customer service is the worst.

If we're counting 3rd gen Ryzen then AMD for CPUs in any application or usage.
As for motherboards, I've only ever had MSI and Asus. Prefer my current Asus Z370 over the MSI one I had, but both are good so not a knock on MSI.
I think I am most likely getting the ASRock X570 Taichi for my 3900X. There is supposed to something like over 100 new mobos for X570, apparently manufacturers are in love with Ryzen 3 like seemingly everyone else.

ASRock and Gigabyte look to have the best offerings so far for x570.
I am not quite a fan of what Asus did for their z390 VRM configurations on their ROG series.

I would say Asrock is more renown as the worst by most people, but I haven't had any problems

Most of these are a wash for me (except EVGA probably has the best warranty of the bunch)

Basically all a wash, I just stay away from high capacity seagate drives in consumer PCs (they're fine for server use)

Ram is ram and I just buy the cheapest stuff for the speeds I want

ASRock has probably been the top mobo manufacturer for Ryzen.
Maybe their Intel stuff sucks though I have no idea.

Going back to the 1155 and 1150 days their top end stuff was usually junk compared to Asus, Gigabyte and MSI
Posted on 5/28/19 at 2:34 pm to UltimateHog
Nah, their intel stuff has been great too. Their extreme4 series for z170 and above is one of the best price/performance boards for overclocking.
Supposedly their z390 Taichi was disappointing compared to their z370 version, but then again quite a few vendors z390 boards were disappointing.

Can’t speak to how they were back then, as I had Asus boards mostly, but most reviewers now consider them a top 3 brand.

Yep. Love my extreme 4 z370

The odd thing about ASRock is that their z390 Taichi was supposedly a complete letdown, but their Z390 phantom gaming itx board is arguably the best itx board for the z390 chipset
Posted on 5/28/19 at 2:43 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
God their Z77 extreme4 was a massive POS. Unreliable and ugly af
Posted on 5/28/19 at 2:45 pm to boXerrumble
Yeah they are doing a Phantom Gaming X for the X570 and I am unsure on if I should go with that or the Taichi.
This looks clean though
