8700k pretty much shits on all of those. I'm considering getting one and selling my 5960x
Benches are pretty even for 8700 and 7820, what's the major difference?

I just got a Logitech G613 from BestBuy, coming from a G710+. I hate the mushiness of reds and blacks, so I stick with blues and browns.
I love my G613 wireless mech so far.

Quad channel memory support and 28 pcie lanes for the 7820x.
X299 is the more expensive platform though.

Just ordered a Nintendo Switch with BotW, Mario Cart, Namco Museum, and Mario Odyssey for the family.
Anything else I should get with it? Got an SD card and Joy-Con grips. Should I get a second Joy-Con set?

Significant overclocking advantage for the 8700 resulting in quite a bit higher gaming performance, much lower TDP, and a larger cache.

You will love it!
BotW is my GOTY without question.
Did you own a Wii U? If not Mario Kart 8 will blow you away.

Fckk no. Joy cons suck.
Spend the money on 2 x Pro Controllers. I have the old Wii U pro controllers that I don't use anymore. They aren't as good as the Switch Pro controllers but better than joy cons. I'll give them away to you if you want them.

Haven't had a Nintendo product since the original Wii, so I'm mostly excited for BotW, but I'm sure Mario Kart will be fun.

Yeah BotW is very different. Took me some time to get into but once sucked in that was it.

Any glaring issues with this build?
Thinking about water cooling so that might change things but I think the base hardware is solid. I already have the PSU and the Evo840.

That $1200 monitor that only does 100 MHZ?
I am not one for that size of of monitor, too much real estate to cover with my eyes.

Monitor seems like the biggest issue. Not really sure why you would spend 1000$ for that when you can spend half for basically the same monitor

Basically a price placeholder. I have an Asus 24" 1440 right now. Gonna wait for the Acer Predator X34P and see how it looks. Supposedly it will OC to 120MHZ.
Regardless, I want something along those lines. Large, 1440, and high refresh. I was looking at the Samsung CHG90 but it is only 1080. The big perk on it, however, is that you can basically split it down the center and have two monitors with no bezel.

I honestly wasn't either until I went from a 19" to a 27" and loved it. I messed around with the 34"ers at Fry's a while back and I love them.

32" @ 2160 is perfect imo. It is what I game on.
But..
34" @ 1440 seems terrible. Esp for an ultra wide.

We found out last week that my SO of 8yrs has a 14x11cm tumor on her left ovary. Tomorrow she goes in to remove the mass and left ovary. Hoping the tumor isn't malignant.
Guess it will be a good time to test out the Switch's portable pull? Trying to stay positive since we both are relatively healthy and never experienced surgery.

Yea I couldn't imagine playing games on that. I think Stout really likes his, but hates it for gaming?

Yeah I would love it for work. Esp when I'm coding.
But as for gaming it seems terrible at the form factor/resolution.

Any recommendations? Like I said, that monitor is basically a placeholder for now. I know I'm getting one, just not sure which.
Hope everything goes well for you and the gf!
