I wouldn't want to sit on the phone to hear excuses either. Simple resolution. Send money. End of story.

What does everyone think of the Threadripper benchmarks so far?

Really, I'm not sure why someone purely gaming and not doing any video editing, coding, or other work would spend $1k on a CPU, regardless of the chip being Intel or AMD.

But I really don't know how Intel can justify $2k for 18C/36T, when the 1950X is putting out some damn good performance for 16C/32T at $1k.

EDIT: Not to mention the pretty high thermals for the Core i9.

I did tell him multiple time it wasn't about the money, I wanted to make sure the card worked, but after the last promise to pay and a week later I had enough. Had he emailed me and told me what his payment plan was we could have worked it out.

If you need if for productivity it's a hands down no brainer, the value and performance is incredible. The 7700k is still the top dog for pure gaming

Yeah plex server could really use something with more than 4 real cores. Not gonna drop a grand on a cpu right now, but in a couple of years I would expect AMD to be even more competitive with cost/core.

If I win the lottery I'm going to make an amazing Plex server with one of those things.

That 26k passmark has me drooling

Threadripper is higher but trade off for me because it's two modules basically under the hood.

We don't know the thermals yet for the Intels above 10 cores.

I'd guess they would run very hot.
