Getting so close to CES '17, super excited this year. Can't wait to see the new Samsung TV's.
1080ti is supposed to be revealed as well.
Ryzen will be there and may reveal pricing/firm release date. Vega too.
Tons of new Z270 and AM4 mobos.
This of course too. Please give me a 27"+ 4K HDR 100Hz monitor. Please.

You should also expect to see new 4K, HDR, and high-refresh rate monitors at the show.

I'm building my brother in law his first gaming PC with my spare parts I have laying around but I'm second guessing myself..
Right now the parts I have to use are
AMD 8350
20 GB of PNY 1600 RAM
120 GB SSD
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R5
I have a R9 480 (4GB) that I am thinking of putting in there since this build will have an older processor in there but I'm sorta worried that the build still might not be powerful enough.. This is his first build so I doubt he does anything too intensive with the rig or even be interested in upgrading in the near future.. You guys think that the AMD 8350 and 480 will be enough?

I wouldn't buy a TN panel, surely GSync people will get some better options this year, generally all the years new monitors get revealed at CES.

I'm digging this monitor, whats coming out that I should wait for?
That is a terrible panel. Plus I hate that anti-glare shtt.

Solid damn build there! However it's about $2100 out of my price range. I thought I had listed a price, but I realized I didn't after seeing this. So before all that, Happy New Year to everyone. Hope y'all had a great night and brought the new year in, in style. As far as the price range, I'm looking at anything under $1400 for a 4K build if possible.

Well, a single 1080 will probably do 4K at medium to low settings on most games, but I'll let actual 1080 owners here chime in. Haven't really had time to delve into detailed gaming benchmarks. I have a feeling that for the latest games, this kind of build is more of a solid 1440p high-refresh-rate gaming machine.
PCPartPicker part list: LINK
Price breakdown by merchant: LINK
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($328.99 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($34.88 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($107.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($84.97 @ Jet)
Storage: Crucial MX300 275GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($81.74 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.78 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 1080 8GB AMP! Edition Video Card ($569.99 @ Amazon)
Case: Fractal Design Define R5 w/Window (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($82.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($64.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1406.31
Another couple hundred dollars or so could get you a pair of 1070s instead. You'd need a better PSU and mobo than what's on the above list. SLI scaling in games ranges from really good (70%+ performance boost over 1 card) to nonexistent, so it's probably better to just stick with one card for convenience.

Why do ppl around the internet call their gaming PCs "Battle Stations"? How fckking lame.
I hate when ppl call our spare room which is my home office/gaming/computer room a Man Cave. Man Cave sounds like a homoerotic dream.

Hardly none. My IRL hate computers, video games and all the shtt we care about.
But.. someone who comes in this thread and has been a part of this TD PC community since jumpstreet owes me hardware. This guy I let go through my computer room and closet to take certain items and borrow others. Well that was nearly 6months ago and the guy does not respond to messages and still has my hardware.
Guess that is what you get for being nice?

Who would do a thing like that??
Posted on 1/1/17 at 2:41 pm to Devious
IDK.. its no big deal if you need the hardware for a longer period of time. Just let me know, respond to Steam, Hangouts and real life text messages.

Did you know that Jesus studied with Buddah? Honestly...

That's a shame, and very odd.

Yeah.. thought so also. Haven't said anything but shtt, I know he won't respond to messages but don't want to call anyone out.

It's officially CES week!
I want a 4K HDR 100Hz+ monitor, and full Vega reveal.

Do more people in this thread prefer the glossy or anti-glare monitor screens?
I really love the anti-glare. Whats people's preference?
