AMD stock breaks $12/share, highest since 2007. What a year.
Show me the money baby.

Haha I bought some at 5 a share. Its been an interesting turn watching it go up. I think im about to sell it all for Intel stuff. Looking at selling my current build at 500$ to a friend and rebuilding. Is it worth it to buy a 1070 and wait for the 1080 TI. Or just go for the regular 1080. Also 6600k vs 6700k?

I bought just over 1,000 shares at 2.88. Pretty giddy over it tbh.
And I would wait, we're just a few months from the new releases including Ryzen on the cpu side and Vega / 1080ti.
Ryzen leaked as launching in late February supposedly will full worldwide release in March. It appears to be worth waiting for, scoring near the performance of the equivalent 6900K and besting the 6800K. At a lower power consumption as well.
I don't want to get too Hyped, but it looks like AMD is going to nail Ryzen and put out their first legitimate CPU in 5 years.
It appears the 8 core Ryzen CPU in video editing/rendering, is where this CPU really excels. Crushing the 6800K and coming very close to the 6900K, also keep in mind that gap is expected to be within 5% IPC, these Ryzen engineering samples are clocked at a base clock of 3.15 with turbo clock of 3.3, AMD has guarantee'd the minimum base clock for release will be at least 3.4, so that gap to the 6900K will fall in the line with their early statement of within at least 10% IPC of the top end Intel offerings. All at a lower TDP than the 6900K too.
I have no interest in either 8 core offerings as no need, but I would grab a 6 core for a good price.
There are a lot of rumblings around Intel lately. AMD has also dropped AMD from their GPU line, it is just Radeon now, not AMD Radeon.

I'm glad you brought this up. CPU newb here. I have a 6700k just turned mine on and i'm at 20-25C. I've seen it get as high as 38C after a long gaming session. I only play overwatch though so i figure it shouldnt be running that hot. No OC whatsoever.
You are fine, the safe zone for is in the 70C range.
Gave my nephew my other 7950 to add to his system today, putting the old MOBO, RAM, CPU, and 970's in my other case tomorrow.

It's almost tax return season, so it's that time of year to help me build a new PC. This time, I am gunning for a 4K setup. I don't need monitors, or keyboard/mouse combo. Just the tower and components. I have a PS4 Pro, and will be getting 1 or 2 4K monitors at some point, so now it's time to focus on a 4K build.
My current build will most likely go to my son so that he can play Minecraft and all that fun stuff on it, and if the price is good enough on the 4K build, I may add a 2nd one for the wife (After 9 years, I finally got her into gaming/streaming).

Ryzen will be out in February so you'll hit that just right for a 6 or 8 core at much lower cost with more performance.
Think I will probably upgrade with you at least on the CPU side.
I don't think we're going to see Vega/1080ti's until closer to summer on that side of things though, but there's also a rumor stemming from an Nvidia job posting online that there will be an upgrade program, maybe. Also just listed 980ti to 1080ti not 1070's or 1080's so who knows.

Maybe I am the only one, but I don't think your AMD money board posts belong in this thread. This thread is about performance and not what the current stock price is, start a thread on the board for those that want to see what AMD's stock price is. People ask questions and don't want to weed through your "I'm getting rich on AMD posts."

Kiss my arse. And given the multiple replies to them, you are wrong. Now I will post them more often. Sorry it annoys your Nvidia fanboy heart. Not really though.

AMD stock sits at $11.55/share today.

Yeah, I'd wait for 1080 Ti or vega for a 4K gaming build. Still gonna be pricey to do a proper 4K gaming rig.
I personally don't care about the AMD stock brags
I post things in this thread that are way more off topic.

I know you do, and no one cares that it isn't PC related and there were numerous replies (in regards to your house). I think he just wants to pick a fight to be honest.

We fanboy as a joke. The problem is you fanboy on the real.
It blinds your decision making IMO.
Edt: I personally like the AMD stock talk. But it just comes off a little strong.

Nah, that was a joke right back at it and you missed it. That's okay though.
Don't buy this though, at least from Urden, maybe from you not sure.

I know Coyote isn't serious about his fanboying. He simply buys the best, and AMD doesn't make a Titan equivalent.

Yeah, it appears that way at least. Although he joined the HBM2 waiting lounge with the rest of us and bailed so frick him and his setup! I hope the 1080ti punishes him.

I had to bail. 980 Tis weren't pushing it.
Can't wait until Zen. Was home for the holidays, so was limited to gaming. One thing I do have is my HTPC to emulate for Mario Party games. Well the A10-7850K isn't holding up anymore, so pretty pumped about upgrading that box with Ryzen.
