Anyone still us a laptop? I sold mine over a year ago. Lately I wish I had one but it's not worth the price to me.

Im in the market for a new MacBook Pro once they get Skylake CPUs. Currently just using our Chromebook to browse. We have a Samsung Chromebook 2 with the 1080 screen. Its getting pretty old but love it.
Look into the Dell XPS 13s if you are willing to spend over 700.

I'm not willing to buy an Xbox

I still have my mid-2010 ASUS G73JH gaming laptop (i7 720QM, 8GB RAM, and I replaced the HDD with a 250GB SSD). It's big and heavy and hot and not really used for gaming anymore, but I still use it when I feel like working from bed. I would get something more portable, but I don't really go anywhere, and this laptop does everything I need it to do.
Other than portability, my biggest complaint is the 1600x900 resolution on a 17.3" screen and that will probably be what ultimately drives me to get something else in the near future.

Reading up on the new 14nm AMD architecture Polaris has me so excite.
Will swap my Fury X for the equivalent when it launches.
The first 400 series cards are hitting this summer.

I'm excited for the APUs. I will most probably always run nVidia in my main rig until they stop having the best offering. Over the past years APUs in my HTPCs have been my only exposure with Team Red since probably a 290.
AMD is doing some good things. I love using their Crimson Radeon suite or whatever the fckk its called. We need AMD to survive to push nVidia and Intel.

I don't think I'll ever run an Nvidia card in my main rig unless AMD dissolves and there is no choice. Highly prefer their software suite/drivers, and they've been ahead of Nvidia in tech for once.
But really, I just greatly dislike Nvidia as a company and will not support them for that alone, especially after this past year.

I want to apply for AMD's marketing department because that slide really undersells AMD's strategy here.
I like that they're ramping down the framerate race against nvidia and focusing on efficiency, but the slide never outright states the biggest potential win. Bullets about 4K h.265, HDMI 2.0, DP1.3, "incredible form factors"... Why not just say it? AMD is going to bring steamboxes into actual relevance by offering affordable 4K gaming for AAA titles in a true mini-ITX form factor. "Affordable" is a subjective word, but < $1K is probably a good starting point for the high end, but a decent new-gen APU crossfired with a low-end card + HBM might enable entry-level 4K as well.
4K living room gaming is a big deal. All these people buying 4K TVs with little to do with them... I kind of wonder if AMD is afraid to go all-in with that campaign simply to avoid cannibalization/conflict -- a $500-600 4K-ready SFF build is quite a bit more attractive than the 10s of millions of consoles for which AMD has provided the APUs.

Well that slide is from the leak yesterday, they made a video on YouTube with the official unveil today.
Shows the direct comparison with 2 rigs and talk about it more.

Pascal
There was a reason nVidia didn't buy into HBM1, 4GB. This is awesome none the less.

I fckking do also. They have been really shtty but I buy the best tech for what I want from PC gaming. So nVidia offers what I love in PhysX and their GameWorks suite, the shtt just should be fully open to everyone.

Right, weren't ready and only one vendor for HBM1 which AMD secured.
It's a nice change to see AMD get ahead.
Hopefully Zen delivers as well and we'll see AMD in a good place this time next year.
I know I'll be grabbing a Fury X2 or whatever they call it.
I wonder if the new Fury X with HBM2 will be able to crossfire with my current gen Fury X? Hmm. But then I'd have to go 4K and I'm just not wanting to do that anytime soon.

I hope, really hope. I had every flagship APU since FM1 and planned on getting the Nano for a SteamBox/HTPC, but the Steam Link is all I need now.
Do you listen to PCPer's podcast every week? They speak very highly of the changes AMD has implemented going forward.

What is the last game to use physx?

Not sure, but NVidia seems to have rolled all of its proprietary gimmicks into "Gameworks," so there are games with Gameworks support but not necessarily inclusive of PhysX (Witcher 3, for example). Arkham Knight had Gameworks with settings for smoke and "paper debris" but it wasn't labeled physx for whatever reason.
Posted on 1/4/16 at 7:37 pm to LSU Coyote
Interesting that Nvidia has Witcher 3 on the list, but Wikipedia clarifies it's "CPU-only," which kind of defeats the purpose.
Posted on 1/4/16 at 7:54 pm to ILikeLSUToo
I wasn't aware Arkham Knight had a pc version

The game doesn't run that bad, ppl who have issues probably ha e shtty hardware. What makes it a terrible game for me is that it is a terrible game, nothing to do with performance.
