Ncix has one on sale for $360. It is preorder, however.

Looks like a $20 premium on similarly specced Z170 boards compared to Z97. But $115-$120 can still get you a decent enough board as long as you aren't going to use two nvidia cards. Otherwise, $140 and up.

My M7 was $234 when I bought it. Then it went up to $241 a few hours later. M5 was $206 then dropped to $201.

Glad I jumped early even if just a few bucks.

I think I'm more excited for this upgrade than the Fury X, but mainly because the sexy new M7 mobo, 6600K, and H440 case. This is pretty much a complete overhaul and I'll be done with my system for quite some time.

Does anyone have a Corsair 760T case? I need to upgrade from my Rosewill Line Glow due to virtually no room for my Hyper 212 heatsink and zero options for cable management. The 760T is kinda pricey though ($160+).

A little premature because the 6700K isn't available yet. But here's the part list for when it is: LINK

Notice the price is missing on the 6700K. Should all still come in under budget.

Santa came early, well, other than the fact that I can't use it for probably another two weeks or whenever Amazon gets their Skylake shipment in.

Also, has MSI always included the door hanger? I laughed.

Yeah, my MSI Z87 MPower came with a different door hanger, because it's a board aimed at "breaking records" in overclocking. It says "Busy Breaking World Records" on one said and I think it says "Out Buying LN2" on the other.

Yeah, it's pretty funny, I was like wtf is this a door hanger really? So random.

Speaking of world records, have you seen the new RAM records the Z170 boards are breaking? The new G.Skill hit 4795MHz and then ADATA hit 4603MHz. Both on the MSI Gaming Z170's too. Incredible, DDR4 is legit.

What socket is Skylake using? I want to look at the mini ITX boards.

I see a lot of LGA2011-3 boards coming out now. Is that it?

ETA I see it's 1151

Is there much of a difference between a GTX 980 and 980 Ti if you aren't gaming on 4k?

ETA: Say I'm not gaming on 4k and want a card to last me 3 years. Am I better served getting a 390, 390X, 960, 970, 980, or 980 Ti?

Yeah, more significant of a difference than any other Ti/non-Ti to my knowledge. Even at 1440P.

Are you gaming at 1440P? Are you wanting something to run at high settings? Kind of a vague question, because any cheap card can last someone several years if they're ok with progressively lower settings in newer games. If I had to pick a single card for 1440P now, I'd pick the 980 Ti. But if you don't want to spend that kind of money, get an R9 Fury, R9 390, or GTX 970.

I'll be upgrading to 1440p soon but currently on 1080p. I found a good deal on a regular 980. Would that be worth the extra cash as compared to a 970?

ETA: Been doing some reading and it looks like a 970 will be plenty enough for what I want to do. Sorry for the crappy questions, I'm new to this building thing and figuring this out as I go

I would go for a 980 if you're going 1440p soon and wanting it to last for many years. But I'm an AMD guy so I don't too much, but while a 970 is fine for 1440p now, you said for the next 3 years, and idk about that, but a 980 I would imagine would give you the longevity you want.

Last I heard Broadwell-E was coming early 2016, with Skylake-E to follow in the last half of 2016.

Also, ILike, I took your advice from last time with how much I hate NewEgg and bought Amazon gift cards with my PayPal balance to get my 6600K...so of course Amazon is completely screwed up with their Skylake shipments. Not only does my order from the 5th still say no delivery estimate and still temporarily unavailable, NewEgg has them IN STOCK and on sale right now. Like wtf Amazon.

I love me some MPower/XPower boards. MSI has been my favorite MOBO vendor since Z77.

For sure, love staring at my M7.

I don't get it though, NewEgg selling Skylake in stock, Amazon still unavailable with no estimate. Of course, the one time I go with Amazon, I get screwed.
