It's actually from maximumpc

Not bad for $100+ less than a 980.

Should run your games okay but not going to work for creating a stable wormhole.

Although it was not powerful enough to generate a stable wormhole like I had hoped, it does seem to play games okay at 1080p so I guess I'll hang onto it.

So that garbage watercooling setup is being valued at $900? Pretty sure that's what my entire loop costs.

ok then... $800 budget, need a new MB, Processor, and GPU - I want to have fun this time around if possible - maybe liquid cooling and more overclocking if possible, etc.

Ok, it appears I went way to low ball on what I wanted...

So are most of you running $1,000+ processors? Passmark doesn't have one under $1k in like the top 50 =/

Well what did you want? You don't need anything more than what I posted above for gaming, an i7 is not needed nor will it really provide any boost in gaming performance, it is for rendering/photo/video editing, programming, people that say frick it yolo, etc.

If you are staying at 1080p gaming, the 970 is all you need for a GPU as well actually overkill a bit, the 970 is solid for 1440p QHD, overly solid for 1080p.

hmm I am staying at 1080p for now, is there an AMD equivalent to the 970, but maybe slightly better? Little worried about nVidia with the conversation on the last page

I am running 1440p with an AMD R9 290, I will sell it to you if you want when my FuryX comes in assuming I can get one ordered on Wednesday. They are around $250-$290 new and you'll be overkill at 1080p and if/when you go to 1440p you'd still be very set as I am now, it's a great 1440 card.

You won't find another card with more recommendations for 1440 than a 290 for price+performance. ILike himself told me it's the sweet spot for 1440 when I made the switch and no offense (some) him>you.

I never bought a different one, still using it.

Still haven't found a worthwhile freesync monitor to upgrade to 4K or 1440/144.

ASUS MG279Q is the only one worth considering, and there isn't even a 4K option on the market that I'm aware of. I would hope there's a lineup of high-res freesync monitors in time for the Fury release.
