So I'm trying to hook my desktop up to my television via HDMI cable but my PC isn't detecting the television at all. Any suggestions?

Connected to your dedicated GPU's HDMI, right? Any other monitors connected? Ensured TV is on the correct HDMI input?

Do you know if they ever run a sale on aida?
Posted on 3/8/15 at 1:42 pm to Devious
No idea. I torrented it long ago.

Vice and hammer method. Seriously.
I did the vice method, guess I should have excluded the blades from the pic lol, they were just for cleaning the IHS. The delid went very smooth and easy. Just got done cleaning the chip and IHS, about to apply the CLU and stick it back in the socket. I've seen a few people recommend against using CLU between IHS and block, what's the reasoning for this? I planned to use it on both sides. But I have some Noctua NT-H1 if there's a good reason to go that route.

I was confused by this at first and ended up remaining cautious and using regular thermal paste between the block and IHS. That was back in June 2013. I am now of the opinion that you can use CLU between the IHS and block without any problem. I think there's confusion between the liquid pro and ultra, the pro being harder to work with, more corrosive, and possibly has a tendency to harden a good bit over time (which would explain why no one would want to use it on a block). I removed my IHS last year after having CLU on it for over a year, and it was still just as liquidy and weird looking as it had been.
Here's what it looks like sitting on the die:
Avoid getting CLU on those contacts next to the die. Some recommend covering them with some sort of non-conductive protectant, but I didn't bother. Just don't be careless or go overboard with excess CLU.
Can't wait to see your temp drops.

I went ahead and said frick it and put the CLU on the IHS as well. Rig fired right up and I let it idle for a while before starting AIDA full suite. Been running for 48 mins now and highest temp so far is 62C (still at 4.8 / 1.3v). Before it would hit around 80-81 within the first 4-5 mins. I let the house get to 23C before I started, which is what it was at last time I ran it before the delid. Before, core 4 would usually be a good bit cooler than the other 3, by up to 14° at times. Now there is no more than ~6° difference at a given time.
Needless to say I'm quite ecstatic and impressed with the results. I'll be doing some more stressing with a couple other programs tonight and then see if I can squeeze out a bit better OC or at the least drop the Vcore on my current one. Today has been a good day lol.

Pretty awesome. 20C reduction ftw

I want a nVidia tattoo.
Only wtf is, what will be the point of 12GB per card with the DX12 changes? Anyone who buys an unlocked GM200 will purchase 2 of them, so the theoretical 24GB of VRAM becomes useless due to the new special allocation of tasks per card.
New shield looks awesome, glad they are taking this new route with the addition of an RJ45 port. Extremely excited to see how much latency drops off from my main PC streaming to the X1 Shield compared to my current K1 Shield.

Edt: I'm hoping 2015 will be bring back the fun of upgrading again. It has been over 2yrs (2/13) since anything exciting was released in PC hardware.

I believe all of directx 12's capabilities are theoretical. Meaning, game developers are in possession of the ball. We still have triple A titles that don't get the proper multi-GPU treatment right out of the gate. It's possible you will have already moved on from big Maxwell by the time there's any significant number of games taking full advantage of DX12 vram stacking/split-frame rendering flawlessly. Hell, Mantle has these same capabilities, has been around for over a year, and no games are taking advantage of those specific capabilities as far as I know. It sucks when those sorts of amazing low-level API benefits are left up to game devs.

Mother of God dude. I used to hate people that did the whole "Master Race" stuff but after spending time on Steam and realizing how many games I was missing out on by just playing consoles, I can see why some people are like that.
Posted on 3/9/15 at 2:56 pm to Henry Jones Jr
And that's just one bullet point in the list of advantages.

It is simply too much work for devs to code for Mantle. That tech is dead with DX12 on the horizon, they even put a nail in that coffin by not releasing a SDK.
So now with HBM, yes I'm excited but also read where the changes in DX12 could render it null.
Like you stated though, the direction Microsoft takes DX12 depends how much to listen and work with devs.

AMD has announced that a Catalyst driver will be made available shortly enabling the use of FreeSync technology for those with the requisite hardware. The new driver will be released on 19th March, available to the public via AMD.com, and enable FreeSync for single GPU configurations. CrossFire users will have to wait until April for a further update to enable FreeSync on their setups.

Gotta have a FreeSync monitor, eleven releasing this month from 1080p/144Hz to 1440p/144Hz to 4K 60Hz.
I may be grabbing a 4K FreeSync, or may get the 1440/144Hz instead, depends on the pricing. Already have a Korean 1440 so idk.

Well, what are you waiting for? Grab one today.

They're not out yet. Pricing info, nothing. Only thing we know is they are coming this month.
