Only buy mlb the show if you play DD.. Update: They plan to fix it

Luckily I do play DD, but always love to run through a RTTS player. My god they have ruined it so badly. Quick search on their forum or reddit will let you know.
DD is still decent looks they are trying to nerf progression though. Much longer grind.
Basically turning into EA to get people to spend money. I guess every game is inevitable. Just can't believe they destroyed the most iconic road to the show
UPDATE: Looks like they heard our feedback and are moving the other direction.

This sucks to hear, I love RTTS and it’s the reason why I get MLB the show every year.
Sounds like you only get one player now instead of being able to make multiple?

Yes and all stats are capped at 50 and extremely long to grind no matter how well you are doing.
Only way to get better is to grind archtypes in DD and pull gear from packs.
Basically you are a scrub unless you grind in DD

This is frustrating. By far my favorite part of sports games is the RTTS type mode, and Xbox hasn't had a decent baseball game in over 14 years.
So freaking frustrating, and it was going to be a day 1 buy for me. I don't know if I want it anymore.

Been playing it a few days now. Gameplay is still good. DD is still fun.

In their defense, what else can they do. Nobody would/should buy a the next year release if it is nothing more than some updated graphics and rosters.
They want to make money, so they have to add something of value they can convince people is worth another $59.99.
Sports franchise games would benefit from a subscription model of some type. Make the game cheaper of just flat free and shoot for recurring revenue in the subscription model that would come with updated rosters, stadiums, online play, etc.

This right here.
They have to add/innovate to get people to buy the new games, all the while ignoring other issues (such as code fixes, etc).
One of the things that MLBTS21 did was basically change a lot of shite under the hood in franchise mode. Apparently there are some things that they want to do in Franchise in the coming years, but they couldn't because there were code issues that would be put bandaids on previously rather than fix. Supposedly a lot of that groundwork was laid for this years game and they'll be able to start focusing on franchise moving forward.
Of course, I'll believe it when I see it, but that is what they are currently saying.

I will mention that RTTS now allows you to be a 2 way player like Ohtani. Im sure some strictly rtts players will appreciate that
