elite speed needs to be a massive weapon, but it can’t be the only weapon.

Welp abilities have been confirmed. Pretty much the worst thing that ever happened to Madden.

Just looking for something to bitch about I guess

The X-Factors are terrible on Madden, not the abilities.
From what has been said about them, they are more like badges and not the cheesy op nonsense that X-Factors are.
We’ll find out tomorrow.

Yeah you’re ignorant then, go join Gritz in the Corner of Shame.

Abilities are way worse than the X factors lol, X factors don’t even get activated most games. Keep talking out your arse though and carrying that EA water.

Strong disagree. Abilities are one of the actual good things from Madden.

I haven't played Madden in years, so I'm not arguing with you, just curious. Can you explain the differences between the two and why one is bad, while the other isn't?

I can explain the difference, I can't explain his logic.
Abilities are things like - faster spin moves, harder hits on tackles, better catching outside/inside the numbers, etc.
X-Factors are things like - you can't throw an interception while "in the zone", guaranteed to break the next tackle, guaranteed to catch in 1-on-1
Basically the X-Factors are abilities on steroids. You would have to do certain things in game to "get in the zone" (e.g., completed 5 consecutive passes of 5+ yards)

Gross. How do you get abilities? I'm not sure I would like having that extra thing to improve my player rather than their ratings for each "ability" just increase.

You have to have a player with the superstar or superstar X factor development trait.
From there it depends on your position and your player’s overall.
Best way I can break it down is this:
Abilities were primarily animation based boosts (better route cuts, better jukes, things like that) with some being artificial stat boosts.
X-Factors were primarily artificial ratings boosts with some animation boosts. There were a few X-Factors that were great from a practical standpoint that I enjoyed using: Omaha allowed you to see the defense’s coverage. Pro Reads would highlight the first receiver to come open on your passing play. Blitz Radar would allow you to see where any blitz was come from on 3rd and 4th down (preferred that being on a lineman as ability). Gambler was nice too because when it was active you could not be picked off by the CPU so it was great if you wanted to throw a risky down the field pass. Truzz was great if you ran option a lot because it prevented your QB or back from fumbling while active.
We’ll see what they show tomorrow. I’d like for them to have impact but not be overpowering except for those rare elite players.

Nothing could be more OP than the impact player system in the old NCAA games and I loved it so much. Nothing like seeing my 5 star middle line backer in the zone.

Or when your players got on fire in 14, the QB could not miss at that point.

I hated it..the main reason I quit playing when they started putting that crap in. I still don't forgive EA for not giving us the option to disable it in dynasty mode.

I never bought 2014 because I was pissed with the ratings so I have no idea how it compares to what we have now in Madden and moving forward in CFB25.
Posted on 5/31/24 at 5:49 am to Dairy Sanders
I’m pretty sure they have always had some kind of potential rating in the stats in recruiting.
Posted on 5/31/24 at 8:11 am to Big4SALTbro
If they did they must have added it in 2014 because I don’t recall it in any other edition of NCAA.
