Hey! Where did everyone go after White Orchard? I just got owned in a cave full of little angry gollums. I still haven't removed my normal instinct to RUN into the fray style of RPG gameplay.
I honestly don't even remember. This game has a rough start. I would advise going back to White Orchard and completing every POI. There's not too many compared to the other zones and you should get at least a couple levels out of the whole ordeal.

I'm still totally lost on the whole inventory, crafting, alchemy aspect.
Crafting can be tedious, but it's easy to learn. You can buy/loot the majority of the components from merchants or you can craft the sub-components yourself if you have the recipes.
Still, I wish RPGs would move away from having crafting play such an integral role.
To me, it's more enjoyable looting a nice sword or breastplate out of a cave than a recipe for a nice sword whereby I'll have to spend a half hour tracking down the components I need and the merchant who can craft the item for me.
You get some of that in Witcher 3, but what you wind up with is an odd hodgepodge of different weapons and armor types. Level 10 heavy armor breastplate, level 25 medium armor boots, level 15 light armor gloves, etc.
Best I recall, I like how Diablo 3 handles crafting. I feel like if crafting plays a role in a game like this, it should be simplistic -- used mostly for upgrading existing items or if it is deep, it shouldn't be relied upon as heavily as it is in a game like Inquisition or Witcher 3.
Maybe put the best gear behind a crafting wall, but you really get the sense that at least in Witcher 3, your main source of gear/weapon upgrades should be coming from crafting and not buying gear from a merchant or finding it in the gameworld.
You really don't have to worry about alchemy that much if you play on the default difficulty. You'll want to make swallow potion for the vitality regeneration, but aside from that, you're looking at potions that give you some attack buffs vs certain enemy types and temporary stat increases.
You'll also want to make bombs so you can blow up the monster next. Bombs and potions auto-refill when you meditate as long as you have alcohol in your inventory.

I may be done playing the game, my naga hex side button are defaulting to the number pad keys. It worked fine yesterday and i reverted to an old Razor profile but it's still doing it. I have tried everything I can think of, but if I don't find a fix I am done playing.

I set the naga side buttons to "123" and they still map to "NUM" it's critical since I have 80+ hours in this game and no keys available to stick 6 key maps.

He has to use keyboard and mouse and evidently his mouse has gone wonky.
I really do like the game but I am surprised so many people like it.
Damn game is hard and every time you think you might be getting strong, a pack of dogs tear you a new one because you thought you could just rampage them.
Highlights for the day:
1.Killed the werewolf.
2.Did most of the Baron's Quest.
3.Killed some elven racists.
4.Killed the swimming downers with the crossbow.
Too bad the crossbow doesn't 1 hit other monsters.
Tried to kill the bandits guarding a port. Should say, tried for the umpteenth time and as usual, they owned my arse.
Werewolf owned me for a long time until I realized I just needed to torch his arse and use some cursed oil.
Damn. Work is going to be a pain in the arse this week.

There werewolf contract in Velen is the hardest enemy in the game thus far, and I'm in Act 3.

For the 2nd time today I am an idiot, while setting up my computers up on the new desk and wiping down everything I moved the slider on the bottom of the mouse to NUM, why it's there when you can select it in the software I don't know.

Installed someone's SweetFX settings from Nexusmods. I swear, some people really go overboard with the lighting settings.
However, during the daytime, the added sharpness settings to the textures make for some pretty great screenshots. Took these a few minutes ago:

Going to be a long day. Is it time to go home yet?
Game didn't crash at all yesterday after crashing about 5 times on Saturday.
I think the culprit was a program I was running to check core and gpu temperatures. Didn't run it yesterday and didn't have a single crash. Not sure why it caused the game to lock but I wasn't running anything else with the game so evidence points to the temp check program.

Don't sell the bands that drop off witch hunters. They sell for good cash early on but you can dismantle them for otherwise hard-to-find components.

I do have one big complaint about this game.
The side quests are too damn good. I just want to beat the story, but keep getting sucked into side quests and exploring.

Well, I've just ran into a game breaking bug. Ever since the Kaer Morehan mission, I can't use signs. At all.
I barely beat the mace and shield guy. But now I'm trying to fight a fire elemental golem and can't even get close to him without eating fire damage for breakfast. I know the telekinetic blast sign can zero it out and let you get right up in his grill, but without signs, I'm a sitting duck.
So I've pretty much gotta shelve the game until the next patch comes out.

Ok...possibly a stupid question but are people getting poisoned in Novigrad?
A couple of times I have walked by a bench and then two guys just moan and fall over after drinking something.

It's probably the shady individuals.

Has anyone found a quest that involves them, you don't have to say what it is, just that there is one if you have found it?

No, and it is driving me crazy. They are damned everywhere

Literally all over the place. I kept thinking if I got to close to them I may get pick-pocketed. Not the case. Sigh.

I just googled and there is a side quest involving them, but it's not triggered buy your usual "!" or other marker.
