I have a ton of respect for the developer, but I can never come close to finishing games like this.

Only watched people play the souls games, but those games also didn't have a very straight forward narrative. DA:I was the first true RPG I had played in some time and I loved it and it's a big reason I picked the Witcher 3 up. If it's too challenging just play on the lowest difficulty. If anyone gives you shiit for it then they are just being a hardo.

I hated the dark souls series and I am loving the combat in the Witcher. There is nothing wrong with just playing on Normal or easy.

Exactly. I played both DA:I and have started the Witcher on normal and if something gets too difficult then I'll bump it down. I'm here for the story and the consequences of my decisions. I don't really care about the actual fighting or gameplay.

For some reason I loved skyrim but can't get into DAI. Maybe skyrim started with enough action and DAI starts slow and I need to give it more of a chance.

Probably gonna catch some hell for this, but I never played Skyrim. DA:I was honestly the first RPG I played in years. I loved it. It's crazy, but if you never got to the keep after the Hinterlands than you never really started the game. I was amazed that I somehow spent 8-10 hours on what was basically the prologue.
I still have the game and once all the DLC comes out then I'll play it again. The only I didn't like was that a lot of the side quests were the same. Talk to someone, they lost or need something and you have to go and retrieve it. One thing I've realized is that the side quests in the Witcher are least entertaining and have somewhat of a story to each one, at least the few I've played.

That is what really separates this game from the DA:I so far. The side stuff is just handled so much better. The voice acting is better in each. The missions feel more meaningful. They are just more enjoyable imo.
I can't really compare the combat because I played a Mage in DA:I.

Exactly. The side quests in DAI many times felt like a grind, one of major reasons I haven't finished it yet. W3 side quests have more impact on your game world and they're more interesting.

Do swords really not change appearance when equipped? I've got the Viper silver sword, and even though the picture looks different, the sword I actually carry looks just like the Novigrad steel sword.

Well I wasn't going to post here again, but then I read this.
This is the official release thread not a fanboy thread. I realize you have a post about this game on nearly every page, but if my three posts of with a dissenting opinion are affecting your ability to enjoy the game, maybe you're the problem.

This feels so clunky and its detracting for me. Also, frick this stupid fall damage. You die from walking off a frickin table. I'm about to crank the difficulty down to normal so I can actually enjoy it

I got stuck in a checkpoint death loop when I lit a pyre that I was standing on top of. My fault, but yeah..

I know that I never got 8 hours into it. Maybe I will start it over after bloodborne. Then pick up Witcher 3 when there is a goty edition.
