Picking my copy up after work.

My advice definitely perk up your Survivability perks (damage dealing and armor or restoration) first I was getting perks for crafting and thievery stuff. Always have gealing potions on you. God damn did I have a tough time out in open world, fricking sabre cats are fricking mailers when you are low level. My trek to Rifton was tough going. I am on the highest difficulty though.

I've been sinking time into Battlefield every night, trying to improve and be worth a damn (cause I'm not) but looks like I might go right back to terrible pretty soon here.
I'm going to find some sort of way to balance time. I MUST!

Yesterday I played bf3 and had my best games ever winning 2nd mvp or 3rd mvp every match. I guess all the good players from the past were all in line for skyrim. At my gamestop, only 12 people preordered so I just drove over at midnight and picked it up. Only played the first mission though

tracking shows my copy out and about in Metairie...... I'm going crazy waiting. If the damn thing shows up at 7pm, I'll be full blown mental by that point.
Every damn minute seems like a year.

I'm torn between heavy and light armor. Also, I wonder if you can get by without a crafting skill?
But of course I don't have the game yet...

I probably won't be picking this up for at least another month... I'm just too busy right now to tempt myself. This time of year always tests my gaming discipline.
ETA: It sucks that when I do get a game on release day, it's some shite like Fable 3 or LA Noire that I spend more time bitching about than playing.

Smithing is rather useful, and a good way to make coin. I'd just perk up combat stuff first, I was having a hell of a time trying not to die.

Did I read or hear that everything levels up as you level up? Not the ole wonder into a cave at level on to find level 50 creatures. Is this correct?

Partially true. Certain areas level with you but cap out at a pre-determined level. There are also areas where you would be destroyed at a low level though.

My advice for the start of the game. Don't frick with a chicken or a giant.

I just got my copy. Everywhere was sold out except good ole Sam's. 5$ cheaper too

I want to go buy this game today so badly but I know if I do all my grades will go down the shitter. I think I might wait until after the semester is over.

Skyrim has some areas that are set level. You could be level 1 and walk into a lvl 50 dungeon and get obliterated.
Some dungeons will be leveled with you but.... if you enter the dungeon at level 1. It will remain level 1. So if you come back when you are level 70, the monsters and loot will still be 1.
I've read there is more random good loot. You have small chances of obtaining loot that is a higher level than your current level.

I'm so out of the gaming loop, but I'm trying to work my way back in because I really do just love gaming, and always have. Took a brief sabbatical during college, sans playing WoW for a few months, but now am building back up and trying to amass a good collection of games.
Anywho, pointless story to ask this question:
How linear is this series? I.e., do I need to buy the previous edition to follow a story or is it pretty much unconnected with flourishes of past titles, etc.?
