Areas level when you enter them. So the areas you first start will always have easy to kill monsters.
At lvl 17, if you enter a new area, all the monsters in that new area will scale to 17 thus they will be harder.
This could be what is happening. Maybe you are used to easy kills in one area that was level locked at a lower level and now you have moved to a new area and the monsters are harder to kill.
Yeah, maybe, but I'm a lvl 30 now and I seem to be laying the hatchet to mofos now...I guess he was just weak I dunno. I still havent found another sword to replace my skyforge sword though, i upgraded it to epic status and its damage rating is higher than most everything else i find/make.

Have you made a Deadric sword or dagger yet? Once you upgrade those, they are ridiculous. Epecially with 100 sneak and the ancient dark brotherhood armor, the dagger does 30x damage to its already strong damage ranking.

Don't care to hear about the ending. I just got it, and you guys are bitching about the ending. Really makes me want to keep playing...dicks.
If you're playing this game for the sole sake of beating the main story line you're doing it wrong anyway

I haven't made daedric armor yet, started making ebony items ATM and selling my dwarven armor.
I'm an Orc, I dont do well sneaking, I think its at like 35 sneak. I can sneak every now and then and get a sneak attack in, but they spot me usually.
I only have 100 speech and 100 smithing, 52 block, 60 one handed, 64 heavy armor

When I first beat the main story I was bitching about how short it was. Then I realized it was just as long or longer than just about every other game out there and realized at the same time how big of a selfish spoiled prick I was being

I havent even talked to the greybeards yet, been doing all the others, finished the companions, and started the storm cloaks and thieves guilds, and I'm lvl 31.

We have a right to feel unsatisfied with the ending. When compared to the sheer excitement garnered from exploring these unique and stylized dungeons and the the world around the character, I come away a bit sad that the same care was not put into the main-story and all but the DB quest-lines. I'd have almost preferred the game to just shepard you into Skyrim and have you do whatever, no impending apocalypse scenario because it only detracted from the one reason you are there, to explore.
One day, there will be a game that has the open-world aspect of Skyrim, story-telling of Bioware, and tight controls of id (these are all subjective of course), and I'm going to harp on these missing aspects until I get my hands on that game

Yeah I stopped after I got the last shout for Unrelenting Force

I have 4 shouts right now, I have them all from killing dragons and going to the shout stones.

So how important is Blackreach to the main story line?
I just discovered it while trying to get a Daedric Artifact and it is insanely sweet/huge.

Yeah I explored every nook and cranny and came up with about 35 crimson nirnroots which end up being pretty worthless considering how "rare" they are.
I know that the main story line is supposed to go back to BlackReach at some point I was just hoping that it could be resurrected into a thriving city or something.

Only thing even slightly relevant is the named hidden dragon that you can fight there. I won't tell you how to summon him though, you have to figure that out on your own, I did it completely on accident in my first run through

Why I love this game.
I'm on my second character. Probably 170+ hours in total. I still haven't done the dark brotherhood, imperial army, or found all the mask. I still find new, random hold/village storylines to follow. And now you tell me, in a place I (thought) I had explored, there was a dragon to summon right under my nose.
I'm NEVER going to get Gears or Arkham city even out of the wrapping at this pace.

I summoned him on accident, like one second I was fighting some Falmer, and the next I'm getting hit by a fricking dragon. It wasn't until later when I looked the dragon up that I realized what I did.
