I haven't seen any ability to enchant any type of shoes. Just armor and robes. I'm going to try and get the Deadric armor for my guy so that I can withstand some mele attacks. I figure as long as I find some good jewelry and what not, my spell casting shouldn't be hurt too bad.

I have the feeling that I'm the only one that feels this way, but does anyone else feel that this game is a bit shallow?
I thought the same of Oblivion, and I'm waiting for mods to come out after the kit's released to fix it. But dialogue is just something to click through, there's really no scripted events that add depth to the characters, followers are mules, and the quests leave a lot to be desired. Also, I thought they said they did away with "fetch" quests, but almost every side quest I get is a fetch quest in some aspect or another.
Game is fun, but it's more of an action/adventure game. Wish they included more RPG elements in it, particularly relating to choice/character development/questing.

I suppose it depends on what you really want from it.
I gladly take the lack of detailed characterization for the trade off of a game I can play for 200+ hours. Because of satellite internet my multi-play gaming is almsot nonexistant and I get so tired of games that have 12-15 hours of single player story and then that's it unless you multi play.
I guess I feel I can flesh out the characters with my imagination as I enjoy the IMO superior gameplay.

I just can't figure it out.
If you do, let me know. I've turned off autosave and deleted a whole bunch of save files.
After about an hour and a half of playing, it starts to get glitchy and I have to power off my PS3 and restart. Then, it will work great for an hour and a half again.

I feel the same way, the motivations and backstory for the characters in Skyrim are non-existent to be honest (imo). As soon as they appear and give/complete a quest, those characters become static and lose the little bit of personality they had. That being said, this game is what you make of it, I run around and explore most dungeons because I want to, not because some NPC makes me fetch and item in it.

Yeah, and I find depth in other games, and the mods that will come out. But Bethesda went overboard with the fetch quests IMO.

It's really what you make of it. There is a lot more mental roleplaying, to me, in Bethesda games than in, say, Bioware games. I don't prefer either one to the other, just different experiences.
But yeah, unless you're really fleshing out your character in your mind as you go along, it can be shallow. I can see that. But there's a cool bit of freedom in that, too, in that you can roleplay it so deeply.
Totally random, but just experienced the "double dragon" effect again. Exited the quicksilver mine in Dawnstar to not one, but two dragons raising hell... elder and frost. That was interesting, to say the least. However, managed to down both dragons with minor losses... a guard died, as well as the blacksmith.
Only complaint is that it said I "failed" a miscellaneous quest (fetching some Redguard book for the late blacksmith). I take offense. I didn't fail the mission. I didn't run around and complete everything else in the game, only to realize, "Oh, hey, never grabbed the book for that one dude." No, he got mauled by a dragon about 10 minutes after giving me that quest. Not a failure on my part. More an act of God. Or act of Dragon. Call it what you will.
Hilarious, though, was one of the guards questioning me about the dead guard's death, as if I might have murder-knifed her or something. "Do you know what happened here?" I'm asked. Uh, yeah, dude. Two dragons just decimated your town. They probably had something to do with your squished buddy over there. And I just killed them both for you. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Wassup bitches... I've been playing this game way too much and just had the courage to come to the gaming board. Glad you're all as lame as I am!!!

Sooo has anyone else had a stretch where they were getting stalked by ancient dragons? Cause during my last two sessions, I have come out of fast-traveling 4-5 times to find an ancient dragon waiting for me about 20 yards away.
Always fun to wreck some dragons, but I gotta admit, the last few times it occurred I was a little pissed as I had just freed up my carrying capacity in order to plow through some dungeons and stock up on some more goodies. I'm klepto - I aint leavin any of that shite behind, and dragon bones are heavy.

Have any of you tried mercenary work? Might suit you.

Haven't even bothered to take the bones and scales of the last 5 or 6 I've killed
Just snatch the gold and my arrows and let them lay
I feel like a hide hunter decimating the great buffalo herds

I have a massive collection of bones and scales in my arch-mage quarters.
I also have 10 dragon souls that I am sitting on because I haven't really found anymore shouts. All I ever use is fire breath and unrelenting force.
Also, I hit level 31 today, met paarthinax, and I'm now heading for blackreach

Maybe the coolest "level" in the whole game
I think I spent a week of game time exploring it.

Just started the Bard College quests. I'm a bit confused as to what they are all about. Some one please enlighten me.

There's not a whole lot going on there; it's really short. Basically you have to get the Bard's College rolling again by getting that verse back and having the festival. The instrument retrieval quests give you a lot of very nice skill increases.

Is possibly finding these instruments before you actually get the quest gonna nerf it for me? I've been doing a lot of random dungeon crawling and, so far, have collected some dude's lute and some chick's flute. I cannot get them out of my inventory as they say they're quest items. And I haven't even been to Solitude yet.

Don't think so. I had collected the tablet thing for Farengar, the Whitehold wizard, before I got there. After he told me to go fetch it I had a conversation option that said something like, "Oh, do you mean this one I have right here?"
Probably same thing.

I caught the damn glitch where I can't get rid of these instruments.

what glitch?
The drum and the flute stay in your inventory after completing the quests.
Quest goes away but you can't remove either one from inventory as it says they are "quest items"
