What's new with this game in the last 6 months? I'm thinking of playing again. Any nerfs to characters?

It is pretty dumb. It solely exists to lower your SR each season and allows gain SR quicker in the short term once placements are done.
The problem is this time around they seem to be more comfortable dropping you even further down the ranks, regardless of Placement results. I know I can easily grind back up to the end of the S4 SR (bc the gains will be higher for the time being), it's just deflating being at a number you know you probably don't belong at. It's a very fabricated rank that is clearly lower than your MMR.
It really only benefits smurf accounts that don't have a history of games factoring into their MMR.

I did placements with a buddy in Master and went 3-7. I had 4 golds in 3 of the games with Tracer, dominated with Rein and Mei for a game, and played a few as Mercy.
Get put at 2400. What a joke. I got put at gold last season too which made me quit, then when I came back I won like 8 games in a row
Free competitive points I guess. Trying to decide on my next golden gun. Leaning Genji

Got a full team yesterday that wrecked shop. Myself, Solar, 2 Mexicans from Miami that we found, a nonnative English speaker, and a sick Reinhardt. Won almost every game we played and most were not close. Had one where we ran Torb and Sym on the first Numbani point. Shield gen + armor = cancer. So demoralizing.
So we played until Noah (DPS god) left. Run with 5 and come across a 6-stack of platinums (our whole team is Diamond save for me). We're like wtf. What proceeded to come was the worst bloodbath I've ever been apart of. We couldn't even get past the spawn area. Absolute slaughter. We got 1 cap total in a sweep of Ilios Smurf account mfrs, these guys had to have been Masters. Never felt so helpless in a game. 2min in and we knew we were getting swept

It amazes me, for PC, how much an improved system can improve game play.
I'm a very casual gamer, and was capped at around 2200 and usually hovered around 2000-2100.
Right now I'm at 2425. Hoping to reach plat soon... and I honestly don't know that I'm doing anything different except for the upgraded machine and a stronger focus on specific characters (without having one specific main, though Pharah is the closest I have to that).
Oh, and now I have to figure out my second golden weapon. Got Pharah's. Not sure what next.

Any PC guys want to play this week around 8 central or later? I'm better than my placement matches have me ranked, but I just don't play enough. So I'm trying to up my ranking from around 2300 ish but its damn near impossible solo Qing.
I won't disappoint you higher ranked players worried about Qing with me. I'm strongest with Soldier/Macree but I like playing Rein/Or and I will heal with Zen/Luc/mercy.

I still play daily lol on pc. 3k sr, I play before 5pm central and later around 11pm until bed.
