by the way, papps, i see where 10th place plus gets 65 points.

i assume you mean 0 points for people that don't complete their rounds, correct?

I would think that scoring should be structured so that consistency is rewarded over anomolies, like one win and five lasts.

we simulated 3 events. just randomized scoring. You can see how winning an event can catapult you up the standings, regardless of how you perform in the other events.

in this example, lew won 1 event and finished last in the other 2

Player TOTAL STROKES TOTAL POINTS
Cool 405 930
hi-d 411 755
Lew 426 635
Croacka 415 590
Penn 409 455
MSU 434 435
BT 416 390
AJF 418 315
HookEm 427 282
Gallo 422 270
Oubie 428 263
Meezy 427 244
Toula 432 225
Black 426 215
Devious 435 210
Danimal 430 200

The problem in the socring system didnt become glaring until Toula's picasso of a spreadsheet came about.

bare with me... Im gonna figure something out before the first event is completed.

Hear me out...I just did a quick trial run on my idea. What if points were awarded for first, second, etc. like before but in my way, your total event score is subtracted from your winnings?

Let's take Coors, Croacka and Lew are our guinea pigs. First gets 1000 points, second gets 900 and third gets 850, and so on for the other players.

Say Coors wins, Croacka second and Lew third and their points awarded and scores are shown:

1. Coors: 1000 P - 130 (score) = 870 total
2. Croacka: 900 P - 132 (score) = 768 total
3. Lew: 850 P - 133 (score) = 717 total

That's all for Event 1. On to Event Two and...

1. Lew: 1000 P - 135 (score) = 865 E2 total
Lew's Tournament Total = 865 + 717 (E1 total) = 1582 Total

2. Coors: 900 P - 137 (score) = 763 E2 total
Coors' Tournament Total = 763 + 870 (E1 total) = 1633

3. Croacka: 850 P - 138 (score) = 712 E2 total
Croacka's Tournament Total = 712 + 768 (E1 total) = 1480

Through two events, Coors leads, Lew in second, Croacka in third and so on.

This way, winning is based on actually winning a tournament AND your score, so that your score can also help you gain on a player that finishes below you in an event, but is overall leading you in the Tournament. Does this sound fair? I just randomly thought of it.
