The underlying theory would be that city folk get distracted by pokestops with lures and gyms and not walk as much.

One is unlimited use. The other is a finite use.
Put 2km and 5km in your unlimited and 10kms in your limited

So any of you guys in the know have any idea when they will fix their servers?
The update did nothing to help and the constant freezing and/or inability to open is really shitty

Server issue might take a while.
They had no idea this thing would become what it has become.
I read they hired a ton of extra people that are working 24 hour shifts on the servers.

Honestly, I've found mine to freeze more since I've turned off AR.

My AR has been off the last few days, but it only started freezing frequently today after the update.

no. it disappears after hatching 3 eggs
everyone gets 1 free incubator that is unlimited .
the 3 use incubators come from pokestops, leveling up, or the shop.
ideally you would want 5-8 incubators hatching eggs all at once but that requires spending coin or being lucky enough to get them from stops

yeah. idk then if the AR-off didn't work and made it worse.
AR-off does make capturing everything a lot easier. they always spawn close to the screen.
I think Niantic is just overwhelmed. But they have GOOGLE and Alphabet backing them... they can bring up as many virtual servers as they need

You collect eggs that hatch from pokestops. Can't buy those.
Lucky eggs from the shop ONLY double your XP gained for 30 minutes. no rare pokemon come from them

campus is absolutely nuts with this stuff. I havent started playing yet but my brother has gone out every afternoon and walked the entire campus. He says that there is at least 3-400 people out there. I can only imagine what will happen once school goes back in session.
on another note, I went out last night and nearly every person in the bar before 12 was playing. Then every body got drunk and became interested in other things...

Yeah, I've used the 2 3-use incubators I had. Now I only have the 1 infinity incubator and it's BRUTAL waiting for 1 egg to finish. I still have yet to get any 10k eggs though.

Just caught a Rhyhorn that I tracked from 3 paws out.
It's best to keep the entire nearby screen up (9 pokemon) when tracking...if it moves up the list that means ure getting closer.

Where are you getting your 10km eggs? Just from Pokestops? I have a ton of 5km eggs, but no 10km.

I downloaded Ingress and found the spawn points near me that aren't the campus. Pretty sure I've caught everything that's going to spawn at the college so I'm starting to look for other hunting grounds. Found a spawn near my house and caught a Ghastly within 30 seconds. Knowing exactly where to look is going to make this a breeze.
