I decided to download this and see what the fuss was about, it's interesting but nothing I would go out of my way to get something. I walked out of the apartment office and there was a bat near my car, but the thing was in the middle of the road.

It's really not a good idea to level them up all til you get into the grind levels above 20.
Your max cp rises too fast too quickly 1-19. You are just wasting candy you could use for more evolutions. And the difference between a 1200 and 900 won't make you lose battles. The gym is going to get taken. The goal is to use the least amount of gear doing it and getting your 10 gym bonus every day.

Here's IGN's write-up on evolving and powering up: LINK
quote:
XL, XS, or Regular? Which Size Pokemon is Better? There is a lot of speculation on which size Pokemon is better. Some say the bigger the Pokemon, the higher its CP potential; or the heavier, the more HP it has. However, none of this has been confirmed and it seems to vary Pokemon to Pokemon. Also keep in mind that evolving your Pokemon may change its size! Check back to this page--it will be updated as soon as we have concrete information!

Power Up or Evolve First? For the short answer: It doesn't really matter! You will end up spending the same amount of Candy and Stardust to max out its CP regardless if you Evolve the Pokemon first or not.

So someone give me some advice.
I have a shot load of Pidgey and Ratatta, I have 2 Pigeotto and a Raticate but they aren't that strong.
Should I get rid of all the Ratatta and Pidgey and collect the candy to beef of the evolved one?
Also I have a level 95 Pidgey and my Pigeotto is only 113. Should I keep beefing up the Pidgey and then evolve it so it's stronger than my current Pigeotto?
TIA

I'm thinking XS (agility boost?) can dodge better in battle. Would make since.

This is exactly what you want to do for pretty much forever.
Get about 40 pidgey and rattata, level doesn't matter. Save enough candies to evolve all of them at once, 480 candies. Pretty much any of the 12 candy evolution creatures work on this.
I've found I can do about 40 evolutions during a lucky egg. When you have them all, use a lucky egg and evolve all 40 once. Best way to level in the game. Getting high level is more important, you will catch good gym rats as you go. Once you are at a high enough level over most of the people in your area, then get good pokes for gyms.

So my nitoking is 32. The half circle right under the CP is all the way to the left. So there's a lot of room to lvl him up.
Are we SURE the endgame is the same or would it be best to rank up a nitoran before evolving him?

Either I'm just unlucky, they fixed "the glitch" to the abundance of pidgey, or being a higher level makes new pokemon appear, but I haven't had nearly as much luck finding pidgey today.
I did finally manage to get a gym battle to work correctly without the 1hp bug today. (Seems like there's no glitch if you relax and don't spam attack) Took a gym over when I parked to get lunch. On my way back to my car, I saw three dudes standing outside the restaurant staring at their phones. Sure enough, when I checked my phone, the gym had been taken over again and they had trained it up to level 3. Those bastards.
And another tip, if you turn off the AR, the pokemon are stationary on your screen instead of moving from side to side due to a shaky hand. Much, much easier to catch pokemon with the camera/AR turned off.

It's best to catch something as high in the semi circle as possible, the problem is every time you level, that semi circle increases and your Pokemon becomes worse.
You can level extremely fast 1-19. For something like nidoking, it's not a big deal. There are plenty nidorans to candy and keep increasing him. For Snorlax, good luck ever having him reach high CP if you ran out of candy at level 11. He's rare, you won't get enough candy to keep him leveled. Just catch a nicer one later because you catch better ones later. Use the candy on him when leveling is much slower.
This is a game of patience, get to the Lvl grind first, then worry about CP.

frick this fricking game. My 10 Km egg just fricking disappeared when I hit the mark. Probably because I was trying to catch something while it was ready. Any way to get it back?
I thought this happened to me as well. Didn't get notified when my egg hatched. But I tried a gym battle, and there was a pokemon on my list that I hadn't caught. Apparently the egg had hatched and I had the pokemon without any sort of notice. Unfortunately, it was a magmar with only 146cp, so basically worthless.

The guess is your spawn chances change as you level to an extent. You see more better Pokemon.
However there appear to be locations where Pokemon appear to be plentiful and it's usually crap ones. Try a normally busy Walmart parking lot.

So is there any rhyme or reason to what eeveelution you get right now? I was told if it knew Body Slam it was going to be a Jolteon but I got Vaporeon.
Dig - Flareon
Swift - Vaporeon
Bodyslam - Jolteon
This is the only pokemon in the game that does this, so don't worry about hording any other types. Just be weary of the Eevee's you collect.

Between the flaky servers, freezes, GPS problems, hacks, xp grind, and the novelty of going outside wearing off....this game won't stay that popular too long.
